Opera tends to modify entered address, efficiently entering different page than intended. The distortion mostly adds some text after the entered address, like some subpage that was visited before. The only solution I have found is pressing delete key before accepting the address, but user must be aware, when the address is distorted or not.

Opera version: 49.0.2725.39 (PGO), Stable, Windows 7 64-bit

Everyone has seen auto-complete, that is what he described.

I thought of auto-complete but since it (almost) never made me go to the wrong page I guessed it could be something else.

I experience that every now and then and I agree, it is a bit frustrating. You type something and quickly press ENTER only to realize some sub-page is being loaded. I think what you type should have precedence over any other suggestion. I mean, you should specify that you want to accept any of the suggested urls instead of what you typed.

Auto-complete and suggestions are different things. Presto did have an option to disable auto-complete (the extra highlighted part added inside the address bar) while leaving suggestions (the drop-down below the address bar), but I haven't seen anything similar in Blink-based Opera.
