as mention another thread about the vpn it doesn't always work. i've had the bs warns about certain downloads and the vpn was no.

Sure was. I have looked at Opera's history and history shows the date that the ISP was told about the download.Also history for other browsers shows no trace, and they would be blocked from a pirate site anyway as they don't have VPN's on them
get yourself the browsec vpn extension available for firefox, chrome, opera.

Have just added it to all my browsers. Even Torch.
By the way, I love Torch but hate the way it hijacks all the magnet torrent downloads to default on installing it.I finally figured it out last week. You have to go into your registry and to
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Magnet\shell\open\command
Change the command to the location of the torrent handler. In my case it's "C\Program Files\qBittorrent.exe" "%1" -

That's what I was wondering only last week. The browser VPN is only that, ie applicable to the browser alone. Whatever torrent handler is used may well have no VPN capability built in so the traffic isn't invisible to anyone who has access to the torrent handler's data.So, let's say that a download is initiated through the VPN protected browser and is running on say, UTorrent, then the browser is closed the download is still ongoing. No VPN built into any torrent handler as far as I can see, unless it's a paid for one. Nor am I aware of any procedure to prevent uploading as a torrent sharer whilst downloading is ongoing.

I guess that the registry controls what opens with what so it'll be the default for any browser/torrent handler.
I love Opera for doing many things but Torch is great for just downloading most anything from websites without any faffing around. It even grabs Youtube video

The handler can be set in Opera's settings. OR make Opera ask every time.
ISP snooping: enable encryption in torrent client (not avail in every client?)
Also you could block your ISP's DNS servers in your router - and change DNS to those of OpenNic.
OpenNic also supports DNScrypt if your interested of that. -

No registry entry, no uTorrent setting will help you, because other peers can see your IP address. Only obfuscating your real IP through a system wide VPN (like SurfEasy) will prevent you from being busted.
It's pretty clear to me you downloaded a small torrent file (a few KBytes) through Opera VPNs servers but started it in a torrent client, which down- and uploaded chunks of your shared file to other peers through your unprotected internet connection. You have to understand, that Opera only protects its own browser traffic and not the traffic of any other program.

turn on the encryption in the torrent client it does work. vpn is great for hiding the fact that you're downloading a torrent or magnet, and the encryption in your torrent client in most cases will keep your isp from seeing what you are downloading.

But it doesn't prevent all other clients from seeing your IP. It's not your ISP who cares what you do, it's the right owner and his law firm. They pretend to be an ordinary peer but in fact it's a monitoring software which logs every client uploading chunks to them. Depending on the country you reside they go to the criminal justice, prosecutor, court or ISP with the logged IP and resolve them to the internet subscriber and that's the point you are busted.

I still get the message box appearing if I want to open a torrent with Torch. It only gives a yes or no option so you're stuck with Torch......
BUT I now have found a registry setting to delete.
Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RegisteredApplications and delete Torch.Now when clicking on a torrent link it asks if you wish to opoen it with qBittorrent ( in my case) or probably whatever you put in the previous registry setting for you own default.

uTorrent directs DNS requests to Cisco open servers, u can change this in settings (extra settings) to use such as OpenNIC.
Obfuscate by enabling encryption.
Also the the part "IP to report to tracker" (or something like that) u can basically add whatever IP u want. Most trackers don't operate through IP's reported to them.
Of course - if you really want top solid protection - get a VPN.

Ah, Opera and Chrome are what I use. I also have Torch which is the cause of the problem anyway. However on using Torch to download a torrent from the likes of pirate.trade they open in my qBittorrent so effectively leaving torch out of the loop.
I am now sussing things out more from the things I picked up. I installed the Browsec onto Torch and it works fine. Now if I then leave Torch as my default torrent manager the whole shebang is under the VPN to anonymise the activity.
So it gets the result I want but via a different route.
