I also would like to know how.
I just noticed it downloaded the update automatically today(I apparently forgot to disable the updates last time I had to reinstall it) and I'd very much like not to have to reinstall it just to get rid of it.
I had a quick look in appdata, but didn't notice anything that looked like a possible downloaded update.I can't believe they already forced the update on us when the current version still has basically no features compared to v12.

I see we still can't edit a post in the new forum, sigh...
It seems that the update to v20 something was gone when I restarted the browser, to my big surprise, and that it was probably supposed to try and upgrade to 12.17 which I just found out existed, but something, somehow, went wrong and now it doesn't even detect a new update if I ask it to check manually...

Wish mine would do that - getting request to install on every load. Seems painfully obvious the devs are moving forward with the broken version despite the outcry, so unless I can disable this request to install I'll have to look for a new browser.

Worst case, you can do a clean install and it will get rid of it.
There's been a few problems caused by updating from a previous version in the past. -

I'm beginning to wonder if the new 12.17 Presto security update or its download server is sometimes garbling the connection and attempting to install Opera 20 instead.

Actually, I just re-enabled auto-installing updates and it doesn't tell which version it is so we most likely all jumped to the wrong conclusion. I said yes and it installed 12.17.
The update system is broken(or not configured right on their side) though since it won't find it unless you enable auto-updating.

It's easy to edit a post in the forum. Just be logged into your account, and then, first REFRESH THE PAGE, and then on the grey recangle that covers your name, there's a cog all the way to the right. Just click on it, and you can edit. Click a second time on it, if you want to eliminate the black box with the words, "edit" and "flag" which might be covering part of the screen where you want to edit..

It's the first thing I tried, but I only have "flag" there, even after refreshing and trying in a different browser.
Maybe there's a minimum amount of post required before it's activated or something.Edit: ...or it's restricted to 30 minutes after posting(which is pretty much like not being able to in my mind). I though it was longer before, but I'm probably wrong.
I still don't get why they would restrict editing post like that, but that's a conversation for another thread. -

However, there may still be doubt about whether we jumped to a wrong conclusion, because in the other thread, @bitwyse asserts his 11.10 auto-updated after he reinstalled it, and version 20.0 auto-installed, eventually crashing his system. I guess time will tell whether there are any other occurrences of this.

Well after the helpful comments here I went ahead and installed the update, and it was in fact 12.17. I've now got it set to never check for updates, so I won't end up with installation files already downloaded again.
