Well after the helpful comments here I went ahead and installed the update, and it was in fact 12.17. I've now got it set to never check for updates, so I won't end up with installation files already downloaded again.
Thanks!

Wish mine would do that - getting request to install on every load. Seems painfully obvious the devs are moving forward with the broken version despite the outcry, so unless I can disable this request to install I'll have to look for a new browser.
Before coming across the atrocious new version of Opera I've been very happy with the entire series up to 12.16. I've decided to stay with this version, however because I had auto-update enabled I have a newer version downloaded waiting for installation. Every time I open Opera it asks if I'd like to install the downloaded update, so how do I remove the downloaded update so that I don't get this popup every time my browser opens?
I have already disabled auto-update, so I just need to remove the already downloaded files so I can stick with my current version of 12.16.
Thanks,
Joe
