Features suggestion for new Opera

I want to suggest some little features from old Opera version, i don't know what can be done, what is incompatible or what i miss sorry:
- I can set Amazon deafult search engine, but i can't set engines that i create to default(there was a button in old version);
- Similarly the search tab in quick access only with google? The drop-down menu with all engines created was a cool/useful thing (maybe this is an agreement with Google, but an optonal other serach tab or for example adding this feature in quick access local search tab);
- Anonymous browsing;
- Selecting the amount of disk cache/history/ram to use (or only a parameter);
- Customizable toolbar (home button for example is cool and chrome has it! + The drop-down menu with all engines near the address bar);
- Cool things in the address bar like progress bar/elements number during page loading, padlock icon disappearing on click in the bar showing complete address + details on click on the icon like now (maybe these optional for the user).
Sure i forgot some great things you already did in old version, don't throw in the trash thigs you did better than google.
We don't really need a chrome clone, you can do things google obviously can't or doesn't want (I might be wrong cause i don' t know leagal rules).
I don't think these are all impossible/heavy/incompatible/Google denied features. If i'm wrong tell me. -

Happens also on Opera 12.16 and is due to security reasons, to avoid third parties hijacking your search.

You can remove it on settings but you need to enable power user mode.
Anonymous browsing;
I don't think that any major browser will offer such option. (Note: anonymous browsing is not (directly) related to private browsing (using private tabs/windows)).

Ok i understand that is a common hijack, but let users (maybe in "advanced mode") set that with a password instead of delete the possibility?

Hmm an encrypted preferences file tied to the user account/password, I think that could be a solution. -

I would add as a new feature: Stash customization (choose the order of the items). I use it as bookmarks.

In this case you can use private windows. But your surfing won't be (totally) anonymous.
Thanks, i was searching for private tabs and didn't saw private windows :S

One can only hope that Devs are coming through these forums every once in a while and I don't want to add another "feature needed" thread, so I want to add to this conversation:
There is only one critical thing left for a whole lot of us (people I talked to and work with) and that's customizable toolbars.
For me that means being able to move the tab-bar to the right side, since widescreen monitors offer enough space.
If it's at the top and you've like 20+ websites open, you just can't (!) discern between all the tabs anymore!Another customizing feature would be a "search bar".
In the old Opera I had a whole bunch of search engines in their dedicated boxes in their own tool-/search-bar.
It's just an incredibly useful and handy thing to have! Easy and fast!(I'm on my way trying the "search via address bar and select your search engine from the bottom right", but that's not really "good usability"! It requires more time and effort to use then dedicated search boxes!)
Thanks,
dlderConcerning the new search "feature": has anyone figured out how to edit Operas "default_partner_content.json"? I'm currently trying - in lack of a search bar - to add my search engines in this file (like I did in Opera12's "search.ini"), but I cannot save the file; it's always in use! And I can't figure out by which program...

Let me add my voice for the customisable UI that v12 had. If only because I love being able to put the address bar at the bottom!

Hi guys, I loved what Opera was. But apparently everything that isn't Chrome isn't Chrome enough, so all of my favourite features had to go. Oh well.
At the risk of causing Opera to develop distinctiveness, I do have a suggestion: a hotkey that'll open hyperlinks via the 'find in page' function.
With this feature, rather than search visually through a list of links like a chimp searching for a tick, one could simply mash ctrl+f, type a desired string, then once some of the text of the link is highlighted, mash ctrl+o (for example), and the link is opened without the need for painstaking manual searches or clumsy switching between keyboard and mouse.
Anyway, love your previous work.

I have a feature that I would like to suggest: A 'sort by alphabetical' thing in the Bookmarks pane.
Yes, you can sort by alphabetical in the Opera button\Bookmarks dropdown menu, but there is a problem with that: When you have restored your bookmarks on a clean computer install from Opera Sync? Nothing is shown in the "My Folders" dropdown.
Everything is shown correctly in the Bookmarks pane from Speed Dial but not in that folder. -

That is a known problem that happens to all, and hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I find it pretty incredulous that not only would Opera release a version with such a huge bug in it, but that they still have not released a fix for it.
Since this is a thread for feature requests, I think it would be very practical to have an option in the advanced settings to turn auto-updates on or off.

I agree, but now the fix is released in Opera Developer at least.

java enable disable. If exceptions list could do all subdomains (when requested) this would be good.
For instance. It would be good to have google.com or launchpad.com instead of listing mail.google.com or bugs.launchpad.com separately.On the other hand. One may want to NOT do this for wordpress.com so that every wordpress domain gets java.
So a certain checkbox (default all subdomains) would be good
