      Hi

Opera Mail About lists paths for:

      • Preferences
      • Saved session
      • Opera directory
      • Mail directory

I want to move ALL of these paths.

Ideally, it would done during installation--

-- is there an easy way?

If not, then must be done after installation.

This site explains how to move the "Mail Directory" folder after installation, by applying the "Mail Root Directory" setting to operaprefs.ini
      https://www.lifewire.com/change-location-opera-mail-storage-1173315

How can i move the other folders?

      • Preferences
      • Saved session
      • Opera directory

      thx

Preferences is not a folder - it is operaprefs.ini. Opera directory is normally the folder operaprefs.ini is in, but can be changed.

The easiest way is to click the button in the installer, yes.

And Opera Mail from PortableApps may help in some cases too.

            hi, thx for replies.

@sgunhouse, i did not say preferences is a folder-- my OP mentions operaprefs.ini. I was wondering if there were other settings i could add to operaprefs.ini to set the location of the folders.

@zalex108, good suggestion. Tho i feel safer using Opera's own installer, the Portable App sets ALL folders to the install folder, instead of locating all over the place as the standard installer does. I'll go with the Portable Apps installer, tho i wish Opera would provide their own portable installer.

            thx!

Download Opera 12, launch the installer, click "options", set "install path" to a folder on your desktop, set "install for" to "Standalone Installation (USB)" and install. Then, launch the opera.exe in that folder and enter opera:config in the address field. There you can find the names for the settings for all the files and folders. You then use those names in operaprefs.ini and you put them under the same section they're in in opera:config.

You can also look at this page for a list of settings.

Also see http://www.belkaplan.de/opera/admin/sysadmin4-6.html (see the windows filename changes though) and http://www.opera.com/docs/operafiles/.

You can set both the Opera Directory and Opera Local Directory paths in operaprefs_default.ini (the one that's next to opera.exe) to specify the location of the local and roaming profile folders Opera uses. However, there can be some bugs with that.

It all depends on exactly what you want to do. But, if you just want to change your existing install to a standalone installation, put all the profile files and folders in a "profile" folder next to opera.exe and edit operaprefs_default.ini so that there's Multi User=0 under [System]. Then, you'd just edit "profile\operaprefs.ini" and remove any lines that have paths so that Opera uses the default paths.

Well ... the title does say "Opera Mail".

You should be able to do most of that - other than opera:config - with Opera Mail, the changes that would have been done in opera:config will have to be done in operaprefs.ini directly.

Correct. There's this way to add opera:config to Opera Mail, but I figured it would just be easier to download Opera 12 to take a look at opera:config.

                  Correct.
