So what was the result with 'Webroot SecureAnywhere' disabled?
No such luck. Opera developer is still freezing up.

What about disabling hardware acceleration?

I get the impression that you're suffering from a DNS related problem which affects the browsers. Have you tried other browsers at your disposal to see if that caused issues as well?
Also: what start page do you use? Does it open a specific page or something?
