I am having exactly the same problem, running latest version 39.0.2248.0.
I would also like to know how to stop this. -

Download the update manually.
I can't download any. My version is up to date, it just keeps bothering me with the prompt for no reason. I think it's some kind of bug, I'd just like to know if there is a way to fix it (with no need to reinstall).

By download manually I mean navigate to the Opera website and download it as if you were trying to install it fresh. It will install over the old version and keep all of your stuff intact.

I've downloaded the .exe file for Opera Dev, installed it and the prompt is still showing when starting Opera.

if it helps....the exe being run showed it was in my temp files, so i ended up clearing my temp files and that seems to have resolved. I didn't record the exact path, but i just used ccleaner.

I'll definitely try that, thanks!

Thank you! I deleted temp files, at next run Opera didn't ask about that update. Hoping for best W10/64 here too.
