How to remove recommendations tab?

I found about Opera but not OMenu. I'm using 31.0.1889.174. Would there be any useful information on this page?
If I deleted and re-installed Opera might it be cured? and would I be able to retrieve my bookmarks or would they be lost?
thanks
Sally

thank you -- you are being very patient with me.
I found the profile folder and opened it. I found the preferences file. I could not see how to re-name them.
Are you thinking that I will rename it and then have two copies, one the original and one my renamed copy which I can then check?

I could not see how to re-name them.
Right click on "Opera Stable", there should be a rename entry in the menu. Click on it and rename the folder to "Opera Stable Old" or something like that.

Yep, this is the idea. If the prtoblem is solved then there is/was an issue with your old profile; if not then you can just bring back your data by renaming back the old profile.

I'm sorry, it doesn't offer rename. It's the "Search, search with, copy and print" on the right click

Got it! On the main page (http://www.opera.com/) DO NOT click on "Download now" button, otherwise youll get the [31.0.1889.207], wich is not ok!
Instead, scroll down and click on "Opera for computers" and then click on the link "Prefer to install Opera later? Download the offline package." That version of Opera [31.0.1889.174] doesnt have those annoying site tiles (disabled by default)Just one simple question: how to disable this "Recommended" tab: http://i.imgur.com/D1Vo7Io.jpg ? You are on Windows Explorer, right?
Hi, no, I am not, sarky one. I am on Opera. And it's not working. I have been on Opera four probably 10 years and it has never malfunctioned before.
Is there an expert administrator thread or do I just have to delete and re-install -- and if I do this will I lose all my bookmarks.
Perhaps i will shift to Firefox and then shift back -- firefox will pick up my Opera book marks and then when I re-install Opera it will pick up the firefox bookmarks.
That should so it?

And the answer to that is no it doesn't do it. Firefox picks up bookmarks in Explorer but not Opera. Since I am using Opera it doesn't pick up my bookmarks.

Windows Explorer has absolutely nothing to do with any internet browser!
According to such proposals, there is no one to help us, except for users themselves... -

Go to that folder using Windows Explorer or similar program and rename the folder's name. You can check the path in OMenu > About Opera.
My bad I'm sorry. I can't do it anyway but I am now in Explorer.
It's just not worth the effort or your time. A computer is a tool for me. I will either put up with it or switch, don't think about it any more.

This took me a while too, but now I have it removed....
- go to opera://flags/
- type this [Extended Suggestions] in experiments search textbox.
- select disabled...
