how can I reduce it for non-maximised windows

I'm afraid you can't, sorry! But that's the Windows OS where people have a browser window maximized.

This is really annoying. I even cannot see the reasoning behind that button, which takes up a lot space even when the window is maximized. How do they don't care such an annoying ui problem? Aside from that menu button I found opera amazing with all this new features coming. But that button... all the wasted space... seriosly?

Well, most probably the majority of users use Opera maximized so the space on the top don't affect them.

And regarding the space below the address bar, i really don't think it make such a difference.

It really makes a massive difference. Why should I be forced to use Opera in fullscreen? I have a LARGE HD monitor, I like to keep many windows open. Seriously, you're telling me that Opera's bizarre waste of pixels doesn't matter?

It's sloppy and amateur UI design. Does someone actually get paid for doing that?!?

You're welcome to use another browser that suits you better (I do hope you find one). You're also welcome to develop your own browser if you think you know better, but these kind of attacks are a waste of time and atrocious manners.

Well, it may makes difference for you and others but it doesn't for me and others.

The space on the top exista to allow moving of window. It could be smaller? I don't know. Maybe.

However, decisions need to be made and most of the times they will plese some and dissatisfy others.

Well, I think we are getting a little bit off topic here. I agree that the language of the person initiated the topic is somewhat offensive, but that doesn't make this request illogical or bad at all. Again, honestly, how many of you actually love that gap? Even the macOS and linux versions do not have that much gap when the window is not maximized. Also I believe the developers just don't care that because most of them are using OSX. And I feel like, you are not aware that opera added a setting to remove the tiny one pixel above the tab bar. Why we don't have that option with the ugly (personally, I find it so) menu button and that huge empty line? Again, I have to say once more, I want to use this browser, yet, this menu button is the only drawback of opera for me. Please stop saying 'don't use opera if you don't like'
