Guys, using 11 some 63 it seems (for long I thought I had 11.61)...
It is .61.
I was right from the beginning. Got some misleading data then. Gosh! -

Bookmarks you can change in the Bookmarks Manager or sidebar panel directly. In Manage Bookmarks, you'll see a File button in the toolbar with items named Open, Save, Save as HTML, Export, etc. Save not only saves the file where you choose with the name you choose, it also sets Hot List File Ver2 to that address, so Opera continues to save changes to that file. Likewise Open not only opens the file you indicate, it sets that as the file to be used. In the Bookmarks panel, the same menu is a submenu of the context menu. It's only things like Contacts and Notes where you'd have to use the Preferences Editor (and physically copy the file there yourself).Right? O.O

Absolutely. In fact, we used to have people accidentally change their bookmarks file to one on their desktop (which they were making as a backup or to transfer to another system) and then Opera would get confused when they moved or deleted the file. We'd have to guide them through finding their original and then setting Opera to use it.

Oh my! Me-me-me!
Yes, I had that trouble. For long now my actual bookmarks are in a weird location.
Should I move that file back to the profile folder, rename it and "Open"?
Or can I just Save from the browser to a - new? - file in the folder?

Save works fine, as long as you type the full address. Remember, your profile is inside a folder that is hidden by Windows, thus the folder will not be displayed in the list for you to pick it. Copy the name of your profile folder from About Opera and paste it into the Save dialog. (The file probably exists but is out of date, so if it asks if you want to overwrite the old file say Yes.)

"Type full address"? I thought it would be a pop-up dialogue like usual Windows stuff...
Yes, I know where the folder is. I backed it up with the actual file now to that instead of the "outdated" one.
Well, that time I lost it I 'lost' some bookmarks to it. Can I recombine the two - supposed I can determine which outdated one contains them? -

Text editor, huh?
Thanks.
Truth, I don't so much miss those bookmarks, but I think I preserve all those back-ups since time immemoria. How to find the one? Perhaps it might be the very file that is in the folder.Well, it's kinda messy in there - both. A scroodge myself, saving pages then keeping them forever not even using most
