Notification For Replies Here On The Forum Site

On MANY sites when you post a discussion, there is an option that when enabled send you an email when someone has replied to your topic. Is there a way for that to happen here and is it too much work for administrators??

Go to your profile page, over beneath your avatar on the right will be a button labeled "Edit preferencs".

I always just hit flag after I respond. I had no idea there was another method. So, I've got... Hmm... 45 or so flagged conversations for absolutely no reason at all!

There are (supposedly) two types of notifications here:

1. there are (presumably) e-mail notifications,
2. and also some "instant" notifications which usually are not at all instant in terms of being in time but way too instant in terms of being displayed and offered for a click.

Users might possibly get notified about

1. new posts in the threads they started,
2. new posts in the threads they starred,
3. an instance when someone called them using certain local markup ("@user").
