side bar in stable is behind flag
opera://flags/#extension-sidebarI thought you enable it, when you wrote "I can make a note"... you can see sidebar extensions on opera addon page only with direct link

yea, I forgot to mention, it's possible to install it in stable (side bar extensions) after enabling flag, but UI is better in Beta, and some performance upgrade.

This extension looks very promising.
When is Opera version 30 expected? (rough estimate).

@vux777 or anyone else who knows.
Where in the profile for the V7 Notes extension are the notes stored in case I want to make a backup copy. I had to do a system restore (going back a couple of weeks) and it wasn't supposed to affect data added. However, I lost my notes in Opera from the V7 NOtes exetnsion. My scrapbook in Firefox was unaffected. I've re-done some of the Opera notes. So I'm wondering if I want to be safe with a backup copy, which file in the profile would I make a copy of. I don't see there a Notes file, or Notes.adr or anything like that.

Ekstensions - Manage extensions - V7 Notes - Options - export V7 notes (notes will be stored at your download folder)

@lem729
there is an export feature in settings... cog on the bottom of notes panel, or from extensions internal page
it will export all your notes in a file, just like any other file you save in browseredit: bobo was faster :smurf:

Thanks. I assume I would just import the file then back to Opera (after having done the system restore).
I guess I was wondering where in the c drive the file was if I didn't export it. I mean, if I just wanted to restore it back to Opera, after doing a system restore, wasn't there a file I could have copied (where it's saved) without needing to export, and then import. Wouldn't it be better to have the extension save the file somewhere in the profile, so that if I save the profile, my V7 notes are there in that profile with the rest of the profile data that I saved?

It's meant to be net language, and any involvement with local system is limited for security reasons. I can't programmatically push file wherever I want (as a developer).
There must be some user action, and then user can save it wherever he/she wants (unless it unchecks always ask where to save..., then goes directly to default download folder). So, I can't target your profile folder and silently save it thereAnd data from V7 Notes (extension, as any other) are not kept in some recognizable file like Opera (program) use it before, but in HTML5 localStorage, different chrome.storages or indexedDB...
I didn't tried coping extension folder (profile\data\Local Extension Settings) and transferring it to another installation... Maybe it would be recognized, not sure... but I don't think that safe way

Thanks a lot. I understand then. At least it can be saved. One exports, and then if needed, imports it back.

@lem729
yes,
for that, sync would be perfect, but like I wrote before, Opera doesn't support storage sync (maybe in the future) -

I've now got the sidebar active with:
-
V-7 Notes with Opera 12 notes imported
-
"Bookmarks by the Side" with my Bookmarks imported
So things are looking better. But a great benefit of old Notes was they'd be synchronised between home and work. Great to "send" information home.
