Settings preferences disappear

Hi,
I'm a relatively new Opera user, but I've loved it (so far). However, a couple of days ago my settings were changed somehow and now the following settings aren't saved:
Open the start page
Ask where to save each file before downloading
Show the bookmarks barI can go into Settings and click on each of these, but when I exit and go back into Opera, they're gone again. I do use a browser cleaner (CCleaner by Piriform), but I've used it for years and have never had this problem before.
Also, Opera doesn't open up full-screen. The window is moved down on my laptop screen and I have to move it up to use it properly. This just started at the same time the settings became messed up.
I have run a virus scan, a malware scan, and a spyware scan, and nothing shows up.
I'm running Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Any ideas?
Thanks!

I have updated CCleaner -- actually I had a trial for CCleaner professional that expired so I went back to the free version -- I wonder if I ought to go back to an earlier version of that program. It never deleted preferences before, and I can't find anywhere it's set to do that now.

You might try disabling/refraining CCleaner from doing anything for a time and see if the problem clears. (It might be simpler than trying to install various versions.)

If you're wedded to what CC Cleaner does, you might try SlimCleaner in lieu of CCCleaner to see if it makes a difference.

I guess I'm wondering why the settings would suddenly disappear like that. I love CCleaner and have used it for years with literally no problems until this happened. I'm not convinced it's an issue with CCleaner. But I will try the SlimCleaner and see if I like it. Thanks for the input.

I just closed Opera, did NOT run any cleaners, and reopened it, and the problem still exists. I do not think it is an issue with any other program. Any ideas why Opera would suddenly do this? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall, and if so how do I keep my bookmarks and other settings? I'm worried about that since Opera seems to randomly delete settings now.

I have uninstalled Opera, reinstalled it, but somehow none of the settings I want (download location, bookmark bar showing, start page) stay if I exit a session. Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? I've searched forums, help topics, etc., and cannot figure out why it is happening or why it would have started happening randomly.
I also ran virus scan, malware scan, and spyware scans, and came up negative on all three.

Maybe you have CC Cleaner on an automatic setting.
https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/ccleaner-settings/changing-ccleaner-settings
I posted a series of links to threads about CC cleaner losing settings/preferences in Chrome in the other thread that you started on losing preferences.

Given all the discussion about CCCleaner, and your use of it, it's plausible to think that it's somehow behind your loss of preferences.
