I don't understang the logic at all...
I don't understand why it was changed this way. If doing like this, there should be just option whether to automatically add engines or not while visiting sites.Btw, here even not active engines are displayed in the right click menu...
So instead of adding/editing search engine during the creating is need first activate it (but actually it's already active partially, for the context menu) an then edit.
Another one 'genius' implementation of the well working feature. -

In Opera One and Opera Developer is the right click entry on a search field "Create search engine" gone.
It is still present in Opera GX and Opera Air.If you need it back, try Opera GX or Air. Otherwise, use Settings to manually add a search engine. Hope this helps!

@andrew84 The whole autodetect + activate thing just comes from Chromium that Opera turned on. Opera's context menu search engine enumeration just isn't set up to skip inactive engines yet. I consider that a bug.

My most used search has always been on maps.google.com. After reading your post and the description of how it works now I was surprised that a search wasn't created.
Probably something that maps.google.com needs to fix to get the autodetect part to work.

I agree – it makes absolutely no sense for deactivated search engines to appear in the drop-down menu. It just ends up looking a mess after a while.

At first I thought the feature had been removed completely, but it turns out it depends on how the website's search box is implemented. Being able to add a search engine manually through the settings is helpful, but I still think bringing back the "Create Search Engine" option consistently would make the feature much easier to discover and use, especially for people who frequently add custom searches.

@ErikRogers As was said this is some chromium change.
Now search engines are added automatically while you browse sites with search fields that meets the conditions to be added automatically.
So the inactive search engines list will be growing and growing.
Manual adding in Settings is also still working.But like I mentioned in the blog I tried installing Vivaldi (150 chromium) and there are no changes. Still the 'create search engine' option exists in context menu and no automated engines adding.
So the conclusion is simple. It's possible to restore the previous behaviour currently. Not clear if temporarly due to chrome limitiations or opera team's wish. At least there wasn't any feedback regarding the recent dumb change.

I can also add that even after deleting some inactive engine it will be aded again after visting corresponding sites.
Also, there's two sections for the same thing actually.
'Inactive shortcuts' and 'Additional inactive sites'.Instead of allowing sorting the engines at least (if deleting the default engines is restricted), they just cut functional and implement the feature's absurd working algoritms.
