      @pilis00 The article will not change. I guess that their decision will depends on what will happen to Chromium.

        I really hope they didn't change their position, I switched to Opera mainly because of uBO.

          A bit off-topic but Mozilla posted an article one month ago in which they again confirm they'll keep MV2 addons:

            It is for this reason that if Opera changes its mind about the continual support of MV2 (or at least the most popular MV2 extensions such as uBO) and dumps it, I will be moving to Firefox. We don't have much longer to go to find out how Opera will truly handle things when Chromium ends MV2 completely after June 2025.

              @lancealot I really wish they will keep MV2 addons too, otherwise I'll have to move to Firefox as well. I moved from Chrome to Opera mainly after I saw that article.

              Hopefully an Opera developer who is on this forum care reassure us once again, on this topic, that uBO remains on Opera.

                @pilis00 I don't think a second commitment is needed. Everything is clearly written in the blog post. Don't worry.

                  @leocg I'm interpreting it differently:
                  Adblock one.png
                  Adblock two.png

                  Sounds very much like a promise, doesn't it? Not that I'm dependent on that, as I'm using the built in ad blocker - which is hit and miss.

                  Maybe at the end of the day it's simply their way to promote this native blocker anyway.

                    It seems that now I get this message when I try installing the addon in Opera too:
                    alt text

                      Isn't it still possible in Opera's own addon store? I think the announcement based on the fact, that they're still maintaining an independent own which gives them options to collaborate with deverlopers.

                          @pilis00 I don't think, they will really. They've got their own "Shields" - maintaining support for uBO MV2 wouldn't be necessary as they have their own solution which is a USP in a way and bringing them even more costs.

                          Honestly, in my opinion Opera shouldn't support every single extension that will continue having MV2, as long as they'll keep supporting uBO or AdGuard, as how Brave does, it's perfect.

                            Apparently also AdGuard confirms that MV2 will remain in Opera:

                            Mozilla Firefox or Opera – if you’re looking for an alternative, these browsers still support MV2-based extensions, meaning you can continue using your favorite ad-blocking tools without disruption.

                              Last phrase in that article sounds interesting, I'm curious when the "update" will come from them.
