Recover My Lost Bookmarks

I’m reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a desperate hope. My bookmarks and passwords, collected over years of memories, work, and passion, are gone after I reset my sync passphrase. I didn’t realize this would erase everything, and now I feel like I’ve lost a piece of my life. My original device is no longer accessible, and when I saw them briefly in Chrome before installing Opera on my new device, it gave me hope—only for it to slip away again after the reset.
These aren’t just links to me—they’re my research, my favorite stories, my late-night discoveries, and little pieces of who I am. I know I made a mistake with the passphrase, but I’m begging you, if there’s any chance, any backup, any trace of my data still on your servers, please help me bring them back. Even an older version from before the reset would mean the world to me—maybe from a few days or weeks ago? I last saw them safe in Chrome around [insert approximate date if you know, 24-February 2025"].
You’re my last hope. I’ve trusted Opera for so long, and I believe in your team’s ability to work miracles. Please, if there’s anything you can do—anything at all—I’d be forever grateful. I’m lost without them, and I just want them back.Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening. Please let me know if you need any details about my account to find them.
Sincerely

@soryash20 If you used a passphrase then no one could access them without it, including Opera. Even if they had a backup - which they don't, but anyway - they couldn't read it.

@sgunhouse Because I didn't have access to the Opera browser on my original device, when I logged into my account on the new device, it asked me for a passphrase in the bookmark sync section, and I didn't have it, so I reset it. After resetting the passphrase, all bookmarks were deleted. Now the problem is how to restore them.

@soryash20 Unfortunately, when you reset your Opera Sync passphrase, all synced data, including bookmarks, is permanently deleted from Opera’s servers for security reasons. However, you may still be able to recover your bookmarks using one of these methods:
- Check Your Old Device (if accessible):
If you still have access to your original device, open Opera and check if the bookmarks are still there.
If they are, export them manually:
Open Opera, go to Bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+B).
Click on the three-dot menu and choose Export bookmarks.
Save the file and import it into your new device.
- Check for Local Backup Files:
On Windows: Navigate to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable
On macOS: Look in ~/Library/Application Support/com.operasoftware.Opera/

@soryash20 Unless you can recover them from your old device, they are gone.
If you changed your password, it may actually have wanted your old password - especially if you didn't have a passphrase on your old device. But too late now.
