@jjhanzely Now open Chrome's task manager and Opera's task manager and compare them.

@leocg
Moderator or not...maybe you should shut it unless you know what we're talking about. There's Memory for storage...and Memory needed to actually run stuff. Opera...takes far more memory than other browsers. If you know know what we're talking about, even when showing proof...shut it! -

@jjhanzely Those extensions are used to add features to Opera and they use a (very) low amount of memory.

@leocg 100 MB out of 650 MB being used...is not a "(very) low amount of memory." That's literally 1/6 of the total that is simply not needed for most.
Of course....the other issue is all the "background Processes" that have to be on...unless it crashes your computer (or other programs.)....which means you have far less Memory to run stuff than you actually think.....and with Opera using most of that up.....That's what we're complaining about. Why are you a Moderator Answering these questions if you know nothing about how programs and computers run? Clearly, in order to run Opera, and play games at the same time, you need to massively upgrade you RAM, and available Memory to actually run things.

@jjhanzely Well, this is a forum and anyone can reply to posts. If you don't like a reply to a post of yours, just ignore it.

@leocg That would be the total amount of memory Opera was using to run at that time. Had to spend money to greatly increase my RAM so Opera doesn't crash, or worse....crash my computer....and Opera is still using a total of 857 MB of RAM Memory to run. Well...since I spent $150 to upgrade my RAM, I won't have to worry about Opera crashing my computer when it jumps my Memory Usage to 95%.

The thing is...you're responding directly to my posts...but not contributing any relevant information. Just saying, "Shift + Esc. to check tasks,"...well Windows also has a "Task manager" so you can actually see how much Total Memory programs are using when running. If I could actually turn off some of these useless extensions...I would.

@jjhanzely 650MB nowadays is absolutely nothing. You are simply trying to run a software in a inappropriate device and are trying to blame the software for it

@jjhanzely In the browser's task manager you can see what those Opera.exe processes in Windows task manager are, so that you can check if it's a tab or an extension that is using more resources.

AKA...Laptop.
I guess Opera should only be reserved foe extremely powerful gaming PCs then, shouldn't it? May as well have a disclaimer saying, "Opera uses massive resources. You may need to upgrade your RAM, or....what we built Opera for....A High end, High RAM, Gaming PC. Opera is not meant for laptops. Install at your own risk."
If you seriously think 650MB - 1200MB of RAM is nothing, when there is only 2 GB available (after all background tasks needed to simply run the computer)...then you're obviously one of those people who have a 500GB RAM, in that case..."it's nothing." 650MB is not nothing...when no other program comes close to that amount.
But...as I said....at least I don't have to worry about Opera crashing my computer due to the massive about of resources it now uses. Had to upgrade my RAM...just because of Opera.

Note: I will be translating from PT-BR using Google Translate
my browser is extremely heavy and is using up my RAM, I generally use a lot of tabs open, but when I went to close 20 out of 30 it was simply taking up 97% OF MY RAM, when I restarted it it started using only 40% , but it's still a lot.
What can I do to make it take up less of my RAM?
Note: I have 16GB of RAM

@jjhanzely A regular average entry level desktop computer is able to run Opera GX and any other browser.

@ridefox22 There seems to be a memory leak. Use shift escape to see what is causing the issue.
