@leocg Can you link it? Or screen cap it?

I don't see anything and I've been watching Throne and Liberty videos for the last couple of days.

For testing i unfortunately logged out at twitch, and tried to login again yesterday. Just see the screenshot, it's in german. So you better do not logout temporarily 😉

Translation: Your browser is currently not supported

Yeah, it says that for everybody. But I don't think Twitch is blaming Opera. I haven't seen anything to that effect, anyways.

I would like to know the reason. Opera uses Chromium as well as Edge etc.

@mogwa Off-Topic and it's not for be discussed in this topic, but it's basically to keep things easier to maintain, since the engine is the most problematic part of a browser.

Basically they say they only support the browsers listed on this page, which gives them the "moral" right to tell you to duck off if you contact support with questions about other browsers.

You can also try going to opera://browserjs, disable it, login to Twitch and enable browserjs again

Ok, i finally could log in again, after disabling browserjs.
Before that i removed all entries for cookies for twitch.

Let's see how long that will stay.

Ok, i am logged in, but i can't collect twitch drops. That's the same behaviour than before i logged out.
So this is blocking opera through the rear door!

There is no evidence supporting that Twitch is intentionally blocking Opera.

Just that some code is misswired somewhere and it doesn't work. This happened before several years ago.

Opera even uses Chromium. Twitch is not out to get Opera. You're making it seem like they're intentionally doing this to hurt Opera users.

@mogwa I can't collect drops and channel points and activate channel rewards on Chrome too, and some of my friends have a same problem so thats something on twitch side, but they don't answer me anything but standard automated advices like clean your cache and cookies.

That's the easiest way to solve problems indeed 😠

@makoruu If you go to a page and it says that your browser is not supported and don't let you do anything, then the page is basically blocking that browser. That's simple.

See, that's what called an assumption.

That is what you believe, which may or may not be true.

It could just be a bug with Opera. Twitch is not necessarily blocking Opera on purpose, for what reason? Because it doesn't like Opera?? There is no direct evidence.

You can't just make baseless accusations, especially as a forum moderator. People will think that is real when it might not be.

@makoruu It's a fact, it's something objective that Twitch is blocking Opera.

If it's on purpose or if it's due to a problem, is a different discussion.

                                        So what ist it then?
If Twitch does not support Opera, then for what reason? What is the point why they don't support Opera? Noone can give a precise answer.

The time Opera was not supported from different software is long gone. especially since using Chromium.

There are still sites that block Opera for whatever reasons. E.g. I can log into Amazon cloud reader, when I go to read.amazon.com. But if I try to do the same on the German site (lesen.amazon.de), it tells me: your browser isn’t supported.
The reason will be, that Opera is transmitting its own user string, which Vivaldi or Brave don‘t. Actually they have given by because of sites working like that. So they might not run into such fallacies. But they are not counted by any statistics therefore. I guess, that‘s the reason, why Opera doesn’t hide itself and don’t give up on using the OPRA string.
