Suddenly I cannot drag tabs to another browser window anymore

I currently encounter the same "problem". Also thought It does not work but after reading it here also realize that you have to drop the tab left of the "+" button. This seems to be a recent change and I really dislike it and it is not at all intuitive. I do not want to be precise when just moving a tab from one window to the next.
It it generally a bit unresponsive with a noticeable delay before the dragged tabs "docks" into the tab bar. So it takes a bit and now you actually have to "think" about where to put it since it depends on the number of tabs open.
I got used to the slight delay but this now is feeling very bad from a user experience point of view. If people actually ask if the feature is broken, while it is not, you know you designed something not intuitive.
I still don't want to believe this is actually intended since it is such a bad design. So hope it will be fixed in the future.

you need to drop it on the left of the new tab button.
And that is the problem.
You should be able to drop the tab anywhere on the green area, not just on that tiny red area:
Also, the area for drop should extend over the address bar a little. It would make dropping tabs much more fluid.
This is how it works in Edge. Just play around with it for a minute or two, drag and drop tabs to existing and new windows, and you see how much better it is, much more responsive and fluid than Opera. You can just drag tabs to other windows without trying. It just works, which is not the case with Opera. I wish Opera could work as well too. And I don't see why not, just copy what the Edge have done.

@khellstre In opera it was like that for years until last update a week ago!

Will this be fixed this? I just updated Opera and was hoping that this bug in simple basic functionality would have been fixed. It was not.
Or do you really assume that this is how it should work?

@palencar Just checked and it seems to be working here, you need to drop it on the left of the new tab button.
It Is Not Working.
Or technically it is working, but the user experience is terrible. -

It's suddenly happening to me this past week. I just saw the comment on dropping to the left of the other tabs. That works, but is pretty hard to know and not very friendly. Was a bug opened on this?
Have you fscked your local propeller head today?

@khellstre It's a workaround until the problem is fixed.
So is this issue being fixed?
It has been there over 3 months since this issue was introduced. There have been several updates. I can't believe this would be too hard to fix, if someone just takes a look at it. So is this issue worked at all? Thanks for locking my other thread addressing multiple issues with tabs, and not giving any answers to proposed questions. I find that your answers rarely gives any useful information and I often find them quite arrogant. Facing that kind of attitude when you have issues with software just worsen your mood. I wish they could find someone who is more suitable for moderating user forum.

@khellstre Hi, I found kind of a walkaround - using older Opera version, which I tried to describe here: https://forums.opera.com/topic/60852/why-did-they-remove-reattaching-browers-tabs/18?_=1686726458998
Maybe it will be helpful to you.P.S. I'd be careful with commenting on mods here, I've seen a few bans that were shot, because people were telling their opinion, reasoning and sharing their frustrations regarding the worse and worse state of the browser. So you'd better not lean out in any way and say only good things about Opera. ;p Once I've even noticed the change of my post, because I wrote "EDIT:" instead of "Edit:", truly a law-breaker...

So now we have brand new Opera One. What a splash screen, Wow.
And new drawing on active tab, IMO the old was better.. but maybe developers have fixed some urgent issues with Tabs.
Nope
They couldn't fix any of the issues. None.I wish it was easier for me to migrate to some other browser, but there still still things I think are better done in Opera. But at this point, every upgrade seems to just bring more issued wihout fixing any older ones

Now that I have used the new version a couple of months, I haven't used a single time the โnested tabsโ feature. It is basically useless toy that just adds more clutter to UI.
So, this sadly follows the unfortunately popular current software development trend of adding new less useful toy like features to apps instead of fixing the urgent issues in basic functionality. Issues like mentioned in this thread.

Suddenly, since yesterday, I cannot drag tabs to another browser window anymore... and this is super annoying for me as I'm used to doing this all the time. It is only me? Any suggestion? Opera is my favorite browser by far but this issue alone might prompt me to change to another one
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're facing with dragging tabs to another browser window in Opera. It can be frustrating when a feature you rely on stops working suddenly. To determine if it's a widespread issue or specific to your setup, you can try the following steps:
Restart Opera: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor glitches. Update Opera: Ensure you are using the latest version of Opera, as updates often include bug fixes. Check for extensions: Sometimes, browser extensions can interfere with drag-and-drop functionality. Disable your extensions one by one to see if any of them are causing the issue. Clear cache and cookies: Clearing your browsing data might help resolve issues related to browser functionality.
If these steps don't solve the problem, you can consider reaching out to Opera's support or community forums for more specific assistance. It's great to hear that Opera is your favorite browser, and hopefully, this issue can be resolved so you can continue enjoying it without any interruptions.

@deloreskstaple It is not a bug or a glitch it is just a change done in some version on how tabs behave and work.
Since it was not reverted so far I assume the changes were made on purpose or were a side effect of some other changes but deemed OK and not a bug. It is beyond me why. The behavior of tabs is quite universal in all chromium based browsers and I would expect Opera to not degrade with time on such basic features.
With the latest Opera updates tabs got even more unusable for tablet users, since the close button of a tab only appears on mouser hover.

Yep. With any other modern browser it is like 10x smoother experience when doing basic stuff with tabs. Like dragging them from Window to other, or creating new windows.

So, we have a new update
....and instead any of these issues with tabs would be fixed, it just introduces new one(s)This is unbelievable bad development. And I don't see there is much of hope that it gets any better anytime soon.
