@zoroth-thexallmighty If you zip it up, upload it somewhere, and link to it, I can download it and see what it does for me.

@burnout426 I'm a mac os user and I'm unable to get the the file folder for themes. Finder is also saying webm isn't supported when I try to add my own theme via the easy setup menu. Is there a way around this? I've already tried searching for the directory in Terminal...

@divinedivinity You probably have to show hidden files in finder to see the profile folder (path at the URL
opera://about
) and everything in it. -

@divinedivinity On Windows at least, there's a file type filter drop-down in the open dialog where you can switch the filter to show zip files.

opera could have made it very simple. just add the mp4 and that's it! i don't feel like playing around with their kinks.

@c0n5c13nc3 Go to opera://about and check the path section.

yo does anyone know how to do this without 8 years in wizardry school and a time machine to download programs that no longer exist or links which have long expired? I mean I'm literally just trying to set a video on my pc as a background for the browser, is there no program in the world which can simply just convert a video file to a webp file? or an app? or an addon? or a mod? heck why doesn't the browser just do it itself????
why do I have to go through an 8 step process where 4 of the steps are actually book long endeavors shortened to 3 words which I have to spend hours researching and the other 4 no longer work?
at this point it's almost starting to feel like It'd be more time efficient to just build my own browser from scratch.
maybe I just have bad luck.

@unknown-variable so I guess you can only edit things once on these forums? good to know.
anyways it's been what, like 10 hours? maybe less since I last posted, but around that time since I started? after running around downloading several programs to do several things, none of which ever worked, and then downloaded even more programs to manually do all the steps those previous failed programs should've done, which then apparently had something like a hundred pages of text that's meant to guide you on how to install the f#cking program because it's so outdated that you can't just click a button to get it to install itself... I'm at the end of my rope here. I'm not gonna spend days, or ever weeks, just to maybe get a single f#cking background.
don't get me wrong, I found lots of halfway solutions, like oh yeah I could get a 400 pixel wide background playing at a crisp 60 fps, or an 8k pixel wide background playing at a crunchy 3 fps, but nothing inbetween. not a goddamn thing. hell there isn't even a premium option for a conversion website which would allow me to do so, just a bunch of half measures, a bunch of failed programs and apps, a bunch of image squence programs which I hoped would somehow help me make a decent webp, but are unfortunately incapable of going beyond 5 fps.
hell I even went through a few tutorials which showed the "step by step" process of doing it right, but that was unfortunately a dead end as a few of those "steps" would either show a fully installed and running program rather than installing it from the ground up, and either the features needed for that step were premium and the person making the tutorial just didn't know, or the option to enable those features was buried somewhere within the hundreds of buttons onscreen.
nah I'm done. f#ck it. this browser obviously isn't ready for animated backgrounds yet. maybe if I wait a few years it'll miraculously gain some f#cking functionality.
strange how I'm suddenly able to edit more than twice. I guess you just aren't allowed to edit once you look away?
well, I guess the reason I got this browser in the first place was because it functioned, and could limit itself so it didn't crash constantly like chrome, and because chrome just decided to stop working and started redirecting me to bing and yahoo, so I guess it doesn't matter if the customization is severely limited, like not being able to pick and choose sounds from different mods, or use video backgrounds, or rearrange the sidebar other than just deleting or adding the few supported options. unless there's a hidden option for that somewhere OTHER than the sections in the settings specifically meant for those things?

@unknown-variable The method posted by burnout a while back in the thread works just fine. It just takes some time for the wallpapers to show up in the browser after its done. Mine waited like a day at first (for reasons I don't understand, honestly.) As far as converting, you can just google mp4 to webm and most of the sites will do a fine job. It seems like you've been trying to use webp, which is just the wrong file type, and would explain your issues getting it to work. Anyone interested in the wizarding school method of converting files should look into ffmpeg.
