Scrolling Screenshot (Disabled)

Opera switched to using Chromium's implementation of snapshotting. Unfortunately, it doesn't support snapping all that you've scrolled through. It just supports snapping what's in the viewport. Same with "Capture full screen".
You can disable the flag for now to use Opera's old implementation, but that's probably going away, so don't expect it to remain forever.
Opera Developer right now has a crop tool button on the toolbar after you capture a snapshot. This allows you to further crop what you've captured. Opera Developer also allows you to left-click and drag to select text and then choose "snapshot" in the popup to capture just the text you've selected.
In developer tools (ctrl + shift + i), when docked in a separate window, and the main window is maximized, you can select the body element and take a snapshot of it, which will capture the full page. If Opera could make use of this in the future for "capture full screen", you'd then be able to use the crop tool to select just what you want as a workaround. For now, the download the capture generates can be loaded in an external image editor to crop it.

Well, it's a pity this feature will be disabled (is already disabled in a certain way) because it used to work just fine.
Can you recommend a good add-on instead that is proven to be virus/addware free? Thank you.

@saketo I don't know, but I'd look through https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/screenshot page?_category=extensions.
Haven't checked in a long time, but there used to be some free external programs that could screenshot a page in a browser and capture as you scroll. I don't remember the names of them though.

It's 2/20/2023 and now 'capture full screen' does not work. This screen capture was one of the main reason I choose Opera as my browser. Now they seem to be getting rid of one of their best features. Going to force me to use Firefox. Just stop it Opera. -

@jjsjjs2955 As burnout426 is not a developer or even an Opera employee, I'm not sure why you mentioned him. He's just a regular Opera user who likes to help people out if he can.

@jjsjjs2955 Opera is (re)implementing full page capture in Opera Developer.

@sgunhouse Just a later update to the blog and a post as someone might view it today and know the answer. Do you?

@leocg Thanks. It was there at one time. Should be easy to add it back as they took it away.

@jjsjjs2955 Developer is Opera's pre-beta version. You can download and test the new features if you want, but it can have a few more bugs than either Stable or Beta.

@sgunhouse Thanks. Shame they removed a great feature that worked well and now are adding it back in a new Opera version, but not restoring it in the previous version. It does work in the Opera Gamer version, but prefer the original Opera.

@jjsjjs2955 If you read the explanation of why the snapshot feature has changed, you should have understood that they had to remove it.

@jjsjjs2955 No one knows yet if the Full Page Capture will be in version 96 or not, it depends on if Opera wants and can backport it.

@leocg Capture Full Screen was a like screen print function. Simple and quick. Scrolling was another function. Didn't make the two connected and it was never mentioned in the discussion. Thanks for the clarification.

@jjsjjs2955 The official name of the feature is Capture Full Page.
And, sorry, but scrolling still won't be allowed.

@leocg Yes it is and Capture Full Page does not work at all, even if not scrolling. But it does in the Opera GX gaming browser version. Strange. Thanks for the info.

Hi! There are a few things you can try to fix the scrolling screenshot feature in Opera:
Update Opera to the latest version: Make sure you are using the latest version of Opera, as the issue may have been fixed in a recent update.
Check Opera settings: Go to Opera settings and make sure that the "Capture full screen" option is turned off. This option can interfere with the scrolling screenshot feature.
Disable extensions: Disable all your Opera extensions to see if one of them is interfering with the scrolling screenshot feature.
Try using a third-party extension: If the built-in scrolling screenshot feature in Opera is still not working, you can try using a third-party extension like "Full Page Screen Capture" or "Awesome Screenshot". These extensions are available on the Opera add-ons page.
Hopefully one of these solutions will work for you and you will be able to use the scrolling screenshot feature in Opera again.

@anawilliam.......... Thanks! I was not aware the "scrolling" screen shot was a function of the "Capture Full Screen" function that is a simple click of a on screen button which works similar to a Screen Print function in Window. That is what I used all the time. Never used scrolling.
Now i see around about that when Opera go rid of scrolling it had to in the process get rid of the Capture Full Screen function which initiated it.
Sad as that was one of the few simple to use features that made Opera a good browser. Ye the kept the Capture Full Screen on Opera GX which is gamer focused.
