@scott-summers The old equalizer icon was causing issues, that's why they replaced it with that static icon.

How to return the old sound indication icon in the tab?
The old icon was animated and did not shift the Tab title text.

@crazyghostrider The first time I saw the new icon I kinda hated it but after a few days I could see the benefits from having detached from the logo webpage... the main one being that you can quickly see at a glance which tab is reproducing a video something that was a little difficult with the previous one.

Pls, return options #static-tab-audio-indicator
New static audio indicator is ugly and take a lot of place. -

@scott-summers A week later, I still do not like the new icon.
If the old icon has to cut the end of the animation. And then it would always be seen where the sound comes from. It could also be repainted in a blue color (like a new icon).
My friends had to return to the old version of "Opera" and block upgrades because of these changes.And why not leave a choice for the user, what icons to use?

@leocg they should fix middle mouse button too. when you have lots of tabs opened you can easily close the tab by clicking middle mouse button on the tab but right now it is just disabling sound because there is huge sound speaker icon appear.
my suggestion is;
left click over speaker icon for enabling/disabling sound
middle mouse button for closing the tab. -

@crazyghostrider Yeah they should've left an option to disable it if we wanted to.

The old audio icon caused opera to use substantial CPU power when it was animated. The new one doesn't which is great (not sure why it took so many years to sort that bug) but the new icon causes problems with the close button so now half the time it's missing and you can't close the tab...

@clever-man And you try to close the tab using the middle mouse button, if you click on the new icon.

@scott-summers lol.
it is good feature but i simple dont want since i have opened more than 50 tabs (maybe 100 :D) at the same time. that speaker icon overrides close tab button (cross) most times and makes me annoy.
This overriding close tab button is very unfortunate, otherwise I personally do not care about new or old sound icon.
Opera devs please - if you are not able remove this sound icon (from settings), then at least just show close button always!

As far as I've tested, this is already fixed in Opera 86.0.4344.0 developer.

no. if there is active speaker icon and you middle click over that icon the tab is not closed instead you mute/unmute sound for this tab. middle button should always close the tab for my suggestion. if you wanna mute the tab left clicking over sound icon is enough.
my opera version is 84.0.4316.21

@crazyghostrider Not possible at the moment.
this is a great way for a lifetime user of opera to stop, find a new browser, and never return to opera. Most of us chose opera because it let us customize and enable/disable anything we want, it has a built in ad-blocker, vpn and it stops you being tracked. And now you are forced to have to click to pause the video/audio in order for the close 'x' button appears on the tab. And you can't change it. If you're going to be just like all the other browsers there are much better alternatives out there. So it's been a blast, bye.

I does not like this innovation as well, especially when I cant turn it off in options or in opera:flags.
It is annoying to add new feature Without means of disabling it. -
