@adelith The search engine inside the speed dial page can't be changed, only turned off or on. Default search engine applies everywhere else.

Long term Opera user and decided to try Opera GX. Looks good, I think I like it. I've managed to sync over all of my old data from standard Opera and I can see where my speed dial pages and folders are in the Bookmarks sidebar - But how can I restore my actual speed dial view?
In particular I have a speed dial folder containing all of my permanently pinned tabs (and several other speed dial folders of project pages). Is there a way to restore these without manually adding each page to the speed dial page?

@scottcon9 Go to the bookmarks manager page (opera://bookmarks) and copy the ones you want from the devices folders in Other Speed Dials to Speed Dial

Got it! Thank you. I was a bit curious about why Opera GX had renamed my PC. All my old speed dials are listed under this renamed machine. I can drag and drop them back to my original PC speed dial.
              Seems too simple now. Cheers.

@furyx1337 When you are adding a page to Speed Dial/Bookmarks, you can choose among a few images from that page the one to be the thumbnail.

if you didn't do that when you added the page, just open it and click on the heart icon in address bar.

Is there a way for us to unbind the left ALT key from opening the opera menu dropdown? This is the key most people use for PTT when in other applications and is also used frequently for other functions and it's quite annoying to have the menu pop up every time the window is focused and I'm using the shortcut for another app. Please help.

@leocg OK thanks... That's enough for me to uninstall unfortunately. Love the browser but this menu shortcut is super annoying.

@leocg I would also like to add on this, that you mention in previous posts that the ALT shortcut is something that has been a staple in Windows forever, so why would you want to change it.... That's false. The alt key should "target" the menu but not "open" the menu until you hit enter.

@leocg No it doesn't have that. This is in a game. The entries aren't having an x to remove things with. This is also a separate list from any other site. I have no idea where the cache is stashed. The devs say it's my browser doing it. It's a different complie when I use a different browser, so what they say is true.
I would like to just turn this off.
The game has it's own auto fill where we need it.

                                Hi there,
My problem is that I have hidden tabs that I can't see or close. If you look in the task manager, I supposedly have 25 tabs open.

                                alt text

But the truth is I have these tabs open >

                                alt text

If I open a new tab, the number in Taskamanger increases to 26 and so on. The CPU and RAM utilization is also very high!

@billabong Nope, you have 25 processes. You can use Shift + Esc while in Opera to see what are those processes.

I couldn't remember my passphrase though so i couldn't get the speed dials back from before i restarted so i was wondering if anybody has had a similar problem and could tell me how i could get my speed dials back

                                        Hi,

In light of DuckDuckGo's recent announcement that they're going to start censoring results, I'm hoping to switch to a different search engine. I've tried to add Brave Search as a custom search engine but the info I found when searching for help on how to set it up was quite old and I can't get the keyword to work. However, I don't like having to type a keyword at all. I like being able to just type my query directly into the search engine as I've been doing with DDG in the past.

Is there any way I can set up a custom search engine to do just that? If not, I suppose I'll have to stick with DDG but my trust in them was significantly altered after that announcement so I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to get this set up properly so I can just go back to searching with the address bar via different search engines.

@jaekobcaed Nope, only pre-defined search engines can be set as the default one.
