@derloopkat You can try a search engine other than google. You can use startpage because it show google results but with more privacy amd security.

@derloopkat In Chrome you also can't download it because the image has a non-secure address, so Chromium kinda blocks the download. In Opera, the download seems to start but never ends.
if you try other images, you should be able to download them.

The issue is not resolved yet (short of uninstalling and reinstalling - I haven't tested that yet).
However to work around this you can simply rename the downloaded file to remove the opera extension and the file will work correctly. The you can cancel the download in Opera. -

@bbildman It is unacceptable to change security settings to allow downloading.
Additionally the link you posted has nothing to do with the original post here nor the issue I'm having (which is the same as the original poster).Right click on an image -> save image as
Window pops up to ask where -> click ok -> file is downloaded
File stays in the download state forever.Following the instructions I provided earlier works.
So the issue is not that the file or image does not download, but that it is actually that the browser Does Not Finish downloading it to change the file name extension as seen in the images posted by derloopkat.
This also only seems to happen with images. Other files work fine.It also does not happen every time. The site does not need to be secure for the file to download.

@roninator2 Not disagreeing with you, but have you tried the method described in the posting I link I gave you. Just asking.

@bbildman Sure, if you specifically put the link address into a new tab or browser then you are able to right click and save as.
How is that different than the workaround which I mentioned?
My point is that if a person has to do a workaround, then there is a problem. -

@roninator2 I set Google's setting for insecure content as allowed (as instructed in the link I posted here) and the download works fine.
The setting will then work for all Google image downloads.

@bbildman Your still not getting it. This is not only for google. The original post was about google, my example was not. Its an issue across the web.
Do you wish for me to allow unsecure content for the entire web?Sufficed to say, there are two workarounds and that's life and we have to live with it, but it's still something that should be addressed as a problem for the creators of Opera to fix.
If I knew I was going to be drilled onto one specific point I wouldn't have bothered to make an account to post my alternate solution here.

@derloopkat I can confirm this problem in Opera 81.0.4196.54 64-bit on Windows 11 Version 21H2 (Build 22000.318).
In this case, the issue is that you're on an https page trying to save an image that's on an insecure http page at cnn.com.
To work around this, click the badge at the left of the address field while on the Google search result page, goto "site settings", and set "insecure content" to "allow". Then, refresh the page. Then saving the image in your reproduction steps should work no problem.
