I noticed that recent updates to Windows 7 seemed to kill Opera's ability to play embedded video. I get a black screen only with no controls.

I restore back to previous day and videos play fine. I've done it twice so far and today I changed from automatically installation to let me decide whether to update or not.

I subscribe to Autoblog and there are videos embedded in many of there articles. I would hate to lose this feature.

Anybody else have this happen to Opera?

Are you referring to December 10th's MS updates? Are you using Win7-64 or -32?

Videos on AutoBlog play fine for me in Opera 11.64 and 12.16. They use Adobe Flash Player.

              The same here.

Version: 18.0.1284.68 - Opera is up to date
              Update stream: Stable
              System: Windows 8 64-bit (WoW64)

              and

Version: 20.0.1353.0 (portable - standalone) - Opera is up to date
              Update stream: Developer
              System: Windows 8.1 64-bit (WoW64)

both are on the same system. Since yesterday 17th of december i am unable to play any flasplayer content on any web page runing Opera. In Firefox everything works fine.

I tried deleteing flash player and instaling again but didn't solve the problem. Then i checked if flashplayer plugin is enabled in about:plugints it was enabled. I disabled it then enable it againt it didn't solve the problem eighter.

If you have problems with youtube then we have some workaround:

http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2013/12/youtube-is-back/ Please read this. Restart the browser, after couple of minutes patch should be applied. If that doesn't help - locate your profile directory - on Windows it's %appdata%\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable, on Mac delete ~/Library/Application Support/com.operasoftware.Opera/- and delete the browser.js file. Restart browser again, after 1-2 minutes file should be downloaded. We will remove the patch once YouTube will rollout their fixed version.

Another solution for youtube is to install "youtube options" extension and set "video codec" to "flash", so that will force youtube website to use flash player intstead of html5 one.

After patch is applied you don't have to do this, because patch is actually forcing flash video (until Youtube is fixed) 🙂

Evidently I spoke too soon. Now I'm also experiencing the infinite loading of videos without any videos. 😞

Hi, I noticed that I can no longer watch Netflix (Silverlight) videos since December 10th. I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with Opera 19. I've tried reloading Silverlight and clearing caches, all the usual stuff with no joy. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and have a Happy Holiday,
                            Jeff
