I had no issues getting my bookmarks imported into Opera from Chrome but the bookmarks are only half there except for youtube. I display only one capital letter per bookmark so that I can get more bookmarks displayed, sometimes the letter is not even needed, except in Opera that does not display the icons correctly? So what gives

@jimbotoxsky Importing does not import favicons. Once you visit the sites the icons will be there.

@sgunhouse Actually when I imported into Chrome from Edge everything was the same. If Opera is not going to import colors and shapes someone needs to fix this asap as in today because I can tell what the icons are in chrome and no one can tell what their icons are in Opera so this is really a big deal

In my testing, you'll have better luck if you export your bookmarks from Chrome to an HTML file and then import the HTML file into Opera.

In Chrome, goto the URL chrome://bookmarks, click the 3 vertical dots at the top right of the page and export the bookmarks to an HTML file. If you want, look in the HTML file with a text editor. You'll see that the favicons are specified as data URLs. Anyway, then in Opera, goto the URL opera://settings/importData, change the drop-down to "Bookmarks HTML file" and import the HTML file you exported from Chrome.

Now, since you already imported from Chrome before using the "import from Chrome" importer, you'll need to get rid of all the bookmarks you imported. In Opera, goto the URL opera://bookmarks, move all bookmarks and folders (folders that can be deleted) to the trash. Then, empty the trash. Then, when you import the Chrome bookmarks HTML file, you won't have duplicates.

For Opera GX and bookmarks on the bookmarks bar, see this post for an issue that affects Youtube.

@burnout426 Thanks finally something that worked. Since that was not really hard I am not sure why the other way exist? Also it should be possible to delete to the trash in one big highlighted dump rather than one at a time. Anyway thanks again

If you're on the opera://bookmarks page, you can right-click in the right-hand pane and choose "select all". Then, you can right-click the selection and choose "move selection to trash". Or, you can ctrl + a and then hit del if you like using the keyboard. Or, you can drag the whole selection to the trash (although it's a little bit tricky to get the correct spot on the trash icon to drop where the selection actually goes in the trash.)

Yeah, there's room for improvement there.
