[Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the right

'solved' in this particular case would be actual if they'd really brought the
recently closed tabs' back or if there was an opportunity to switch it off with the help of corresponding flag.
*Or the name of topic should be different, 'TabMenu alternative' for example, then every extension from the store that undo closed tabs will look as 'solved'. -

The absence of the feature is one thing, but a moderator that basically taunts people is a whole other level.

I don't think tabs menus will return. Most probably the code will be removed.
I know. That's why I suggest not to ask to bring it back, but request the Search Tabs popup's functionality to be as close to the previous TabMenu as it possible.

Ok, I will not complain any more since the "basic" functionality came back. By "basic", I mean we can now find closed tabs. Having said that, I would like to point out a few suggestions for this basic functionality to become actually functional and efficient instead of just existing for the purpose of existing....
-
- Ability to middle click a closed tab on the list so it opens in a new tab.
-
- Ability to be able to open many closed tabs without having to go back and forth to the button, then the list, then the button again and so on and so forth, in combination with he point No.1
-
- Ability to have the "show more" always expanded, so when we need to open more than one closed tabs we don't have to go to the button, then show more, then click on the closed tab, then back to the button, back to the show more, back to the closed tab and so on and so forth.... That is 6 clicks to open just two tabs... Not to mention the travel distance from the button to the middle of the screen, especially in high resolutions/wide monitors...
-
- Ability to have either closed tabs or open tabs always expanded or retracted, depending on each user's needs.
-
- Move the popup on the side, closer to the button, so we don't need to go back and forth from the top right corner to the middle of the screen, as described in point No.3. That is very useful in higher resolutions / wider monitors.
-
- Ability to remove tabs from the closed list with an X button on the right, so that we can remove tabs we don't need any more...
The above points will make this feature efficient, so there is not constant clicks and meters of mouse movement just to open a few closed tabs, and although it seems like not so important, in the long run they add up and start consuming a lot of otherwise valuable time, unnecessary clicks, unnecessary hand and mouse movement, shorter mouse life, finger/wrist fatigue etc...

Almost a month with Vivaldi, now I use opera only to get on Amazon Prime, it updated today and recent tabs button is still missing, sooo, hell no, I guess I'm never coming back to opera as main browser, thx devs
Edit: For those who don't want to try a superior browser and want to stick with this dying shit, there's an extension called SimpleUndoClose that fucking do the job, but, again, I wont use a browser that creates a problem removing a widely used option.
Also, "solved" my ass. -

@seroko111 in opera 71, it came back. There is a "show more" under the 3 closed tabs and it gives about 25 closed items. Maybe you need to change the flag opera://flags/#search-in-closed-tabs

@skoy21 Already tried, not the same as the perfect and simple button it used to be, and it is in Vivaldi.
Again, screw this browser and the "new and useless" features. -

@skoy21 Plus they mark the thread as "solved" and just want us to say thanks for giving us a less useful version of what they took from the browser. Yeah, for sure. gg devs, hope you lose a serious amount of browser usage share

@skoy21 I have two "little" problems with this solution. I want that list of recently closed tabs permanently expanded not collapsed and the list of openned tabs should be in default collapsed or hidden. I just dont want that search and list of oppened tabs feature.

@leocg Is there also recently closed windows? I mean If you close one of operas windows with some tabs can you "revive" that window with all of that tabs from there like its in old version?

Yes, but you see only a tab name in the list, when you click the tab the window (with all tabs) will be restored. So it's not as clear as in the old TabMenu.

is there any way to revert it back how it was before since the latest version is no longer working to use opera://flags/#search-in-open-tabs i want the old way of having the close tabs on the top right not the crap of search in tabs. i have no idea why they remove the option to revert it back how it was before

@nicinu001 It is possible but you have to dowdgrade to older version and disable updates. You can do it like this:
- Download offline installation of opera version 69 (69 is the last version that have recently closed tabs that you can activate through flags https://ftp.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/
- Close your current opera version and reinstall it with older version that you downloaded
- After installation you have to be very quick and close Opera before it starts to update
- To disable updates you have to open your opera installation directory and there should be folder with name of version you installed so open this folder and rename file opera_autoupdate.exe to something like opera_autoupdate.old.exe
- Now you should have older version but if not try something below
- Close opera and delete all folders with versions names in root installation folder. It should be names like 69.0.3686.95 etc and then install your desired version again and continue from number 3.
- If you still dont have older version try to open opera from installation directory with version name you installed
- If its still not working try to reinstall opera completely and continue from number 3.
EDIT: Also after some time opera menu will turn red and inform you that you have old version and you should update but dont worry untill you manually force install with downloaded installator, opera will not update even if you start update from opera menu. It will just make some error or open opera website to download new version.
Also some features will eventually stopped working (mostly on porpouse) to force you to update so be prepared for that. It could take a long time or it could happen with next new version. -

Step by step they are closer to the TabMenu, in the latest Dev build there's a 'Window with x tabs' feature for recently closed.
