URL sometimes not displayed when hovering over links

Please enlighten me if a comprehensive solution already exists. Browsing this and other forums makes me believe that several other people are confronted with this issue and no satisfactory answer is around.
I've installed Opera on a Windows 10 notebook this week. But very soon I noticed that hovering over links didn't display the URL at the very bottom of the browser window. To make things really weird, it suddenly worked during another session. And then it stopped again.
I've read and considered many postings in this matter. I know that there's no option in the settings to enable/disable this feature. And I did reset the browser to default settings - no luck. So please don't repeat this kind of stuff.
I'll be really grateful for any reply providing a new explanation or even better a remedy to this mysterious issue. Clicking at links without knowing where they point to seems like a basic IT security nightmare to me...

Hey, well ..
1° - you can try see if your opera version is updated.
2° - see if opera://flags/#enable-aura-tooltips-on-windows is enabled.
3° - you can try a fresh start opera. opera://update/
(this will delete some configs, history, bookmarks....)OR you can download latest version on site https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/
and install. -

You can simply right click on target link and select Copy link address. Paste the address in new tab so you can read the URL easily.

Thanks, but...

I've installed Opera from its official source a few days ago, so this can't possibly be a version issue
-
aura tooltips were already enabled

Interesting... How did your idea come about that this could be related to hardware acceleration? Doesn't sound like the most obvious connection. -

it would be nice to know if it worked because so we would be prepared to answer that kind of question in the future.
When this happened to me, the fix came out in the Opera next build, but it's been a long time. -

Sometimes feels that link/url popup is not displayed, when some of tabs is loading or stuck into some missing javascript fetch or similar. Unfortunately I cannot reproduce such behavor at will, thereby no bugs reported and no recommendations here to avoid this.

@nvmjustagirl I cannot understand why, but this actually worked for me. I reset, with a relaunch after selection to off and again after setting to on, and it just worked.
I am actually amazed that it worked... -
