@avl said in Video playback issues with MacOS Catalina:
We're aware of the issue and it'll be fixed in the next update to Opera.
For people struggling with automatic update, it's much easier to disable it like this (and easy to revert later too):
Open Terminal.app and write
defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate true
Would you or anybody be able to post the command to reverse the above command you just posted?

Thank you to all involved in helping to resolve this video playback issue..
The latest
Opera
Version: 64.0.3417.61is now streaming Netflix, and Amazon Prime videos and doing well with other videos I had issues with, even before the 64.* update.
Also, I was making the mistake of not exiting and restarting Opera after running the terminal command:
defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate true
or
defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate false
So that was fun to learn as well.

I also just exited so the update can be turned on again. Thank you and for the updates!

Just to be completely clear, many of you mentioned it already but an update with a fix for this issue was released yesterday. You can see the full changelog at https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2019/10/opera-64-0-3417-61-stable-update/ .

Hello all. I can now stream netflix and prime video but I am still having the problem that the film cuts in half and then switches sides in fullscreen. Anyone else have this problem? I can't attach a screenshot because as soon as you press any keys it goes back to normal for about 5 seconds.

@atls it's probably better if you open a new thread for this, it's not related to the problem described in this thread so far. For those interested, that problem was due to a problem with the Widevine DRM plugin, which is used by e.g. Netflix and Amazon Prime to protect their content, but not by YouTube.
