      Hi,

with new update introduce this google research box when clicking in address bar. As you can see in picture, my search site is duck duck go.

Please consider that some of us do not want to use google & cie sites.
The use of user selected search engine would be appreciated.
I personnely feel it should be user choice to have or not this popup.
Maybe it is already a choice, since i cannot find a flag for it ...

      Thank's

Previous build already had enhanced address bar.
It uses the same search engine of start page.

          Hi leo !

          Thank's for replying.

I downgraded opera to previous version 57.0.3072 and this is what i get when clicking in address bar

As you can see, there is a choice of search engines among those available on my system.

I should have been clearer in my previous comment ... it's a question of having the choice over imposing a search tool.

Nothing has changed, except that the icons no longer show up. You can still use the search engine of your choice in address bar.

Everything as change, those icons allowed me to search from a different provider than the selected one in settings ( duck duck go). I could select wiki instead of duck or yahoo bing etc ..

With this update i do not have that choice from the address bar anymore, what i get is an impose search provider.

So if i want to search in wikipedia i have to go in settings menu before doing the search ... that sound counter productive to me.

I guess you are the first person I see that use those icons, people usually use keywords in the address bar.

Your picture shows that DDG is being used for searching on address bar. As I said, the search field in the enhanced address bar is the one that you see in start page and hs nothing to do with your default search engine.

lol there is always a first.

I do not want to argue with you ... but i do not see google in my start page.
                  🤣
Opera was kind enought to put an option in settings to remove it from there, sooooooo anyways like you suggested i will use keywords.

Thank's for replying and have a good one

It's because you've hidden it or another search engine is used on your region.

Hi @loup001, as for now, there are two options for you:
                            1. being on the address bar press Esc, then down arrow,
                            or
                            2. go toopera:flags#better-address-bar, disable it, and restart the Opera.

Have you fixed the bug in bookmarking? Versions 55 & 56 will not bookmark in the normal manner because the doorhanger coming from the heart symbol is blank.

Hi @concretable, I do not experience this issue by myself, please add some more details, like e.g. screenshot, or file a 🐛 report here.

I filed a bug report, but I can also describe what happens here.

                                        1. Try to bookmark a page from Bookmarks > Add to Bookmarks
                                        2. Doorhanger drops down from heart symbol in address bar. The door hanger should contain an image plus a folder selector.
                                        3. Click to drop down a list of folders and click the one desired. The bookmark should then be saved in there.

That result does not happen because the doorhanger is completely blank.
