Google suggestions disabled? How to implement an alternative?

Hey,
apparently opera disabled the google suggest/auto-complete when typing in the search word in the adress bar, right?
If yes, does anyone now the most comfortable alternative for that? I've added Google homepage to speed dial but it still too much work compared to google via adress bar.
Thought about setting google as start page/homepage so that google page opens up with a new empty tab but that is not an option though. All the tabs that were open upon last session's shut down should be stored for the next start (would be disabled if Opera is told to open with my homepage).Could anyone offer me a nice option? Would appreciate it.

Check whether this box is ticked or not :
opera://settings/ > Privacy & Security
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar -

Could swear that it was enabled weeks ago and the issue still came up (so that I disabled it).Offtopic:
I can't stop Opera offering me websites I've visited or bookmarked, right? -

@bestename You mean Speed Dial suggestions? You can disable them.
Thanks.
I've found a check box under Browser/Homepage and unchecked it, but it didnt help. Was that the right one? Translated it is called "Show suggestions based on speed dial entries" -

@leocg I'm guessing address field autocomplete contains history and bookmark entries and OP wants to turn that off.

Exactly this.
However, at the end of the day, I want to have suggestions and Opera does not seem to offer these. Therefore will switch to Chrome sooner rather than later.

Still works for me...
Wait. What does work for you?
For example:
If I enter "opera back" in the adress bar, without the quotes, not a single suggestion pops up.
However, if I type that in the search bar on google homepage, I do get suggestions like "opera background image". This is exactly what I want. -

If I type something in Opera's address bar, I see suggestions from Google. Of course that requires Google still set as default search engine Also note that some privacy software will block access to suggestions.
Does a search via adress bar really leads you to the same suggestions as if you had typed them in the search bar on google homepage? Would you mind show some screenshots? Would appreciate that.

Well, barring that the address bar is limited to 5 suggestions while the Google homepage shows 10. Opera only showed the first 5 from the ones I saw on Google. (Actually, I wasn't sure they'd be the same when you asked - Google does try to tailor results based on your history and location and so on. Though your "Opera back" example is unlikely to care about location, as opposed to typing something like "mexican restaurant".)
