Can't sign in to Opera

Opera for Windows 10. The "head & sholders" on the far right of the menu bar shows a white cross in a red circle. When I click on it to sign in (in order to synchronise my settings with Opera on my second computer and my phone), nothing happens. Tried re-installing the latest version of Opera, but to no avail. I've tried searching here and elsewhere and am amazed that I found nothing useful. Frustrating.

Did you try from the menu, or from Settings?

I have the same problem. Yest I tried the menu and Settings. Refuses to work. Most frustrating.

So you can input your username and password? Or the dialog to input them doesn't even show up?

What version of Opera?

I'm having this same issue for Opera 49 on a Mac. Trying to sign in from the settings pops open a menu at the top, right. When I enter my e-mail and password, the menu goes away, but I am still not signed in. There is no error message or anything to tell me what happened.
