[Solved]Google sending old version of its page to Opera

@operauser12356 Exactly the same thing here. Yesterday it was random, today I noticed it's permanently on the old design. This quick fix I found in google forums or maybe the permanent fix - I get sick to the stomach from the old design. I've added this to my Opera properties i.e. right click Opera icon, choose Properties.
"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36
The problem is that Google isn't recognizing Opera as the Opera browser, sees it as something else or an unknown browser.

I'm having the same problem. It started yesterday or the day before. I had to install a user-agent switching extension and force google to see Opera as Firefox or Chrome and it works fine.

I'm having the exact same problem that started 5/25. Opera 45.0.2552.881 (PGO). Windows 10 Pro 64. I don't have Turbo on and I am not using VPN. Extensions: Adblock Plus, Always Smile, Disable HTML5 Autoplay, Download Chrome Extension, Images ON/OFF, PasteItEverywhere, Search the current site.
I've turned off the Adblock Plus, HTML5 Autoplay, and Images ON/OFF, but it doesn't affect what is happening. As others reported, on 5/25, the problem was intermittant. Today, 5/26, it is steady. Google always loads with what looks to be an old version. This is not happening in Chrome and Internet Explorer.
Looking at the page source for the same google search page in Chrome, I see it starts with this:
<!doctype html><html itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/SearchResultsPage" lang="en"><head><meta content="/images/branding/googleg/1x/googleg_standard_color_128dp.png" itemprop="image">In Opera, it starts with this:
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">I've just tried the useragent switch extension others have recommended. It solves the problem. Of course, I shouldn't have to do that, so there is still a problem either with Opera or Google.

also before it was random it would switch between old layout and new layout but now it seems stuck on the old layout
Mine seemed to always go to the old layout if I did a search from the url bar, but then if I clicked the "search" button on the results page it would reload to the new layout. Now, no matter what I do or how I get there, it seems to always be stuck on the old layout.

Hi,

Version information
Version: 45.0.2552.881 (PGO) - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)

I installed that extension that @bebner linked and it solved the problem when I switched it to Firefox on Windows. Have yet to experiment with other user-agents.

Also, in what page the issue is happening? It would be www.google.com?

It appears to be just google's homepage as well as the search page. I have uploaded two screenshots of how it looks for me.
That said, I went to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Play and Google Analytics and they all displayed properly. Although not pictured I turned night mode off after and that did not fix anything.

The User-Agent Switcher extension Opera is good temporary remedy until they fix Opera.
You just right-click in a web page, highlight User-Agent Switcher and a list of web browsers pop up. If you click on Google Chrome, it will re-open that page using Google Chrome's code, right inside Opera. This is great because you don't have to use a different browser.

I've also got the same issue as of May 26 as well.
As @joelkuiper has stated, enabling VPN seems to clear up the issue, as far as my end goes, and I'm running the latest update as well.Version:

@leocg On my end, I only have Avast, and I'm using the built in adblock on Opera.
I out my laptop to sleep last night, and turned it on today, and it showed the old layout when I first used Google about two hours ago. I just updated to the recent version about two hours ago, and it was still an issue until I turned on VPN.
I did a test when the layout switched on Opera, and much like others, the new layout was there on Chrome, but Opera had been reverted to the old layout. -

@bebner
My google search results started looking exactly like your screenie today, after Opera updated to ver. 45.0.2552.881. Actually opened Edge & did google search. The results were in the current format (as opposed to Opera update's retro style)Don't have any suggestions, but devs are bound to fix it with so many people reporting prob.

@leocg My IP location would be in the US. Is it just a location based thing or something?

I'm having the same issue. I am using Avira anti-virus, the most recent dev version of Opera on Windows 10, and I am located in Canada.

I first noticed it after Opera updated to ver. 45.0.2552.881. Is anyone experiencing it with an older version?
