Add-ons are gone

Everytime I open Opera browser, my add-ons are gone. They get uninstalled on its own. What to do?

There seems to be some issue with your Opera profile. Try renaming it so a new one will be created.

You can find the path to your profile in Menu > About Opera.

Quite frequently I get the message on Opera start-up: My preference file can not be read ... this also removes all my add-ons.

Where is this file located? What is its name and how can I save this preference file in a safe place so I don't have to re-set every thing each time?

The same way you do with any file in your computer: you do a backup by copying the file to a different folder/disc/etc.

so I don't have to re-set every thing each time?

You shouldn't need to do it that often. If the problem is happening constantly then something may be wrong with your installation of Opera.

But then it may be something for another topic.

Thanks for the reply.

I just re-installed Opera ... and it keeps giving me the same problem on starting the browser.
A message comes up saying the preference info can't be read ... and all the add-on settings are
gone along with my preference settings.

What's a good fix to this problem?

Try installing Opera just for current user or do a standalone installation.
