I just re-installed Opera ... and it keeps giving me the same problem on starting the browser.
A message comes up saying the preference info can't be read ... and all the add-on settings are
gone along with my preference settings.

What's a good fix to this problem?

Why do I get this message on browser start-up preference settings can't be read? All my app settings keep getting lost as well ... what is the problem here, and how can it be resolved - any ideas anyone?

Quite frequently I get the message on Opera start-up: My preference file can not be read ... this also removes all my add-ons.

Where is this file located? What is its name and how can I save this preference file in a safe place so I don't have to re-set every thing each time?

This question was raised in August of 2015 and now good answer was provided to date ... I find this very strange, to say the least ... especially since the problem still exists, and in particular, the setting for a special page to be opened at start-up keeps being lost all the time!

What's the point of entering a setting for the browser, when it is being lost all the time, the settings file can't be located or read?

Is there no solution to this mess?
