I have noticed my Opera is on 36.0.2130.80 but for other Windows 7 it is on version 39.

Will Opera continue to support XP?

      Problems :
      (1) A few months ago, I could n't use Opera to watch movies on Amazon Prime. It says check 'Widevine Content Decryption Module' is enabled. Will Opera fix it for XP?
      - I contacted Amazon support, but they said I could download an HTML5 player, but he sent me a link to a site I have never heard of. So was not keen on installing such software.

      (2) A few months ago, Twitter stopped working. It is fine for normal stuff, but I can no longer see the video previews

      (3) Today, the BBC news web site has stopped working as I am getting 'can't load plug-in' for videos (others have raised the issue, so not only XP issue).

I hope Opera keep updating for Windows XP. Because Microsoft have stopped. Google Chrome have stopped. Firefox is updating it, but Opera is so much faster.

Opera provides only security updates for XP. The underlying Blink engine stopped maintaining support for XP. and it is not possible for Opera to backport all their changes. The latest update for XP was 36.0.2130.80 on August 9th.

There is a thread, "Opera Updates for XP and Vista".
            The search is insufficient, unfortunately...

Could we pin that thread somehow?
Or, guys, what about making a pinned thread listing some sensible topics?
Say, first let us anybody pile it up there (mods don't get a salary) then mods order it, cut the BS, close it and pin it. Or not close it.

I had been thinking of it but couldn't come to a conclusion yet. People usually don't read anything, they just come here and open a topic to discuss their problems - lots of times with important information missing - or they post on an unrelated and/or very old topic.

Also there is the problem that pinned topics don't show up in https://forums.opera.com/recent so I don't really know if pin topics is the best solution.

For some issues I try to keep the FAQ updated.

So isn't it high time we should be kicking some developer arse to eventually attend some upgrading and bug-fixing of this site, Leo?
                :knight:

Good search, proper pinned topics, time settings, moderation refresh...

                  https://forums.opera.com/topic/15311/opera-updates-in-vista-xp
Found it at page 9, isn't it crazy? :XP:

We can start this topic piling it up, then, partially complete, you can include a mention of it in your "FAQ", I suppose.
We could also possibly start a Page on Facebook, "OperaForums", and get it indexed.

"People usually don't read anything, they just come here and open a topic to discuss their problems"

Most people instinctively search for solutions on Google. It really depends on what comes up. People don't necessarily want to sign up to forums, to ask a question, if it has already been answered!

Even though had issues with Amazon prime a several months ago. I could not find any solutions for my problems. I only found this forum by typing in 'Opera forum' in Google and bingo I found you guys (or gals)!

Google Chrome has a message, to tell users XP is no longer supported. But the same communications has not been made to Opera users....

I do have a Win 7 Pc, but Opera is so much slower then my Win XP PC. Both running SSD!

                    Thank you for your help!

On the other hand, it is only reasonable to register on a relevant support site when starting using some major software, like everyday browser.
I did when I started using Opera Mini 3.0! Right with the phone there, while it was still working...
So I was a member of MyOpera Community since 2008, IIRC.

The forum really needs a change, a restructuring but we also know that Opera needs to deal with lack of resources.

Anyway, it's a discussion for another area of the forum.

And there is nothing wrong in doing it.

Because Opera is still providing security updates for XP and Vista. So there is still some support.
