You can use the dropdown menu or add a speed dial with address opera://configure/bookmarks

But maybe there a add-on that will show you your bookmarks in a toolbar popup.

I totally get what you're going through. I recently faced a similar issue where Opera GX started using a ton of CPU, especially during video playback. Disabling Hardware Acceleration and switching to OpenGL helped reduce the usage a bit, but it still spikes sometimes. Now, I try to limit tabs and stick to lightweight browsing when possible. For example, checking something simple like the waffle house menu works fine without causing any CPU issues. It’s not a full fix, but small adjustments do make a difference while waiting on an official update. Hope your browser stabilizes soon! 🔧

I had this issue, then I reinstalled the app and everything works normal again.

I lost all data reinstalling, obviusly, can't login to import data as there's no login anymore, was it worth? I dunno

@Poshua Already exists, though separate from Panic mode. If you go to the history page (not the sidebar), there's a button in the lrft column labelled "Redeem my soul" that hides your history; after using it there's a button to bring it all back. Why that isn't part of Panic mode ... maybe they just didn't think of it?

Edit: I've discovered this strange occurrence tends to happen when a new video begins when youtube is in the pop-up video mode. The videos will be fine if they're just in the tab, within the full frame, but if a new video starts and it's in pop-up mode, it'll simply freak out when I return to normal framing.
Known issue: Opera GX not opening
