if Opera really wants to be against ads on the net, then it's also against funding of 99% of websites

I don't really think that 99% of the sites use ads or even rely on them.

And Opera is not against ads but against the way ads work nowadays.

Also, is up to the user to enable the ad-blocker or not, being it even possible to be disabled on a site basis. So if you or anyone think that a site deserves to have their ads displayed, you can just disable the ad-blocker for that site.

Opera is not against the web. On the contrary, Opera is trying to make the web a better place.

And Opera didn't create the ad-blockers, Opera just incorporated as a native feature something that lots of people have already been using in their daily lives.

Ad makers and site owners/creators will have to rethink the use of ads as people don't like those intrusive, irrelevant and repetitive that many sites use.

What kind of things are you interested in creating? You have console applications, desktop applications (Windows, Linux, Mac?), web sites, web services... Usually the first steps are with console applications, in which you have less complexity.
I'd recommend C#, although Java is very popular as well. Anyway, I can see this thread going off topic very quickly. :S

Videos not good at all currently, perhaps not because of the browser, I guess.

Firefox 40+ is okay - with uBlock though.

Well, today it's not about browsers per se, but about video formats and some strange thing happening lately.

SOME .mp4 files run normal in any browser, but downloaded, its sound appears not running synchronised at all - up to a second off.
First I thought the files were corrupted.
(Well, now I think in a way...)
Or that the downloader corrupts them.
But then it appeared it didn't depend on the way of downloading at all.
That got me thinking, I tried reuploading some - THERE IT WORKED NICE! So the files themselves were deemed to be nice.
What then? My system? My player?
Tried a few older mp4s with that player here - NICE. These new ones - bad.
What's happening? What might be the difference in those files?
What should I check now? The files' detailed properties?
(It gives me a slight idea that these newer files with this problem to occur do load rather slow trying to stream online as well, much slower. It seems. This is what made me start trying to download them in the first place now.)
(Yup, it started VERY recently - not a few weeks ago.
First I must've encountered that.. Well, let me say it was a movie or two from a site I'm not mentioning:naughty: and videos from Facebook (the latter having been being source of some trouble for a while now).)

Partner speed dials should not be reappearing at all - they shouldn't come back if deleted. But I did say "shouldn't", a few people have reported it before.

This free utility will allow you to at least see your passwords.
If it doesn't find the passwords automatically (in my case it displays my Google Chrome ones by default not my Opera ones) select "Advanced Options" under the file menu, check the "use the following profile folder" box and enter the path to the Data folder of your Opera profile.
You can see where that is under "About Opera" in the Opera main menu.
It will be something like C:{user path}\Opera\Profile\Data.

I don't like Windows 10. With the use of StartIsBack my Windows 8.1 looks and works perfectly. And to stop all the Microsoft spying I use Destroy Windows Spying (DWS).

Since recent versions of Chrome aren't XP-compatible and won't update to such versions on an XP system, I can't see where reinstalling it would help. The message is probably the generic alert when Chrome's updater can't succeed if it pings the Chrome update site and finds an update exists but can't complete the download/update - it probably assumes the browser is broken somehow. If the browser is working fine otherwise, I personally wouldn't reinstall it.

Blackbird ... MicroSoft are the guys behind the decision to abandon it, I suppose it's just because they'd decided to - move on, financially, technologically.
XP is a great system, and if it were up to a - charity organisation? they'd sure I think tried to preserve things, like people on older systems and older hardware to remain able etc. ...

Microsoft certainly wants to obsolete their pre-Win10 operating systems as fast as they possibly can for reasons known mainly to them - their frantic behavior (giving the OS away 'free', force-pushing it to Win7/8.1 users, etc) over the last year is proof of that. Otherwise, with the increasing web drift toward heavy graphics/video webpages, the use of hardware graphics is becoming more and more necessary to deal with a computer's graphics bandwidth demand. WinXP lacks the latest hardware graphics interfaces, so the combination of chip makers (Intel, etc), large website operators (Google, Facebook, Youtube, etc) and a host of others have their own vested interest in wanting to make XP and older OS's go away - it's become something of an unholy alliance of all the big players. A key way to make the OS go away (and the computer hardware it runs on) is to simply cease being compatible with XP.

Users may not like it, and it may well be less than ethical by some standards, but it is what it is - namely, reality. And it won't end with XP (and Vista); Win7 and 8.1 are next on the hit list. This is why my focus increasingly is to move to a Linux distro on my next system.
