I found out that it was an experimental setting that caused the problem: "Redesigned bookmarks page

That is a misleading explanation. The dark theme only changes the colours, but not the function. Why anyone would want an interface like that is a complete mystery to me.

@concretable ok, images is working on my windows 10 but if I select the text on the website and drag to desktop it don't save it into a file as a .txt file it would be nice to copy programming codes and write documents. Thank you for replying!

But they are pushing further. The leading edge on ext dev is around FF now. And Mozilla get's a say that is listened to with Chromium devs and at consortium which includes MS/Edge too etc. WebExt is somewhat different from Chromium derivatives.

@rosemanbutcher There's an extension called "Remove cookies for the current domain", which does part of what you require. There are a few history management extensions too, which will remove selected periods of history. But nothing that removes history and cookies for one domain.

A private window has access to my history, etc. I would be quite happy if nothing was inherited.

I would argue that the VPN setting is an attribute of the window rather than any of the sites accessed through it.

My proposal was driven by the observation that I have never used a private window with VPN turned off. For me it is an inconvenience to have to follow extra steps every time.
