Sounds like you have an extension blocking the Google redirector. Many ad-blockers do.

In my view the problem is not whether the users have to download the key. The main problem is that as long as a user is not able to verify whether the key is from Opera or not, downloading it is completely pointless. You could equally install the software without any verification using the downloaded key. The present method provided by Opera only pretends a security, which is in fact not there.
How do I put bookmarks on bookmarks bar??

Opera 12.x and earlier (Presto-based versions) were available in both i386 and amd64. Next was the unstable builds, and continued to be so for some time after the switch to Chromium.

The first public Chromium-based build for Linux was Opera Developer 24.0.1537.0, builds prior to that are Windows or Mac only. So there was over a year in which the Linux versions received no update. The first actual stable release for Linux was Opera 26.0.1656.0.

They may eventually release another i386 build (based on Chromium also), but I don't know when.

The first time you subscribe it should only load the last 250 messages, or that was the default back when my ISP still supported Usenet. Mind you, at that time if you'd unsubscribed from a group and then later resubscribed it would try to download everything since - glad to hear that was changed.

Disable hardware acceleration in Opera and Flash Player, that may help.

and i might add that it would be great if it updated the tiles at all. that's one of the opera 12 features i really miss, every time after i've waken up my system from hibernation i have to manually reload all the speed dial tiles. (not that the opera 12 feature ever worked properly, but sometimes it did, and this "sometimes" i miss,)

If you use the official package our repository is added and it will update.

Previously they have had their own little Debian-style repository so that Debian-based systems (including Ubuntu) could add it as a source and then the package manager would notify you of updates

We still do

one of the RPM-based distros it has never helped me.

Those on Fedora and openSUSE can use this:

For people on rpm distros that use urpmi or APT I have yet to find a good hosting solution for an unofficial repository. In the mean time:
