Yesterday all videos were playing fine. Today open and run Opera 49.0 Version: 49.0.2725.39 Stable with Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS (x86_64; Unity) and just about ALL videos won't play!
What happened and how can I get videos to play again?

@leocg
But am on Linux running with Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS .
Yes the last couple days Opera VPN hasn't had the best stability.
This does seem to happen on occasion.
Here we go again..........
Running Opera 50.0.2762.67 - Opera is up to date.
For about a week or so all videos were playing well, right up to today when all vids refuse to play again!
This is getting pretty old. Wish Opera would address this chronic issue and solve it!
Just started using it. Glad videos play!
However when going to 'Private browsing' my bookmarks no longer open in private, they go back non-private. Earlier versions allowed all your bookmarks to be viewed in private if you wanted. Is there a way to still do this with Opera 60 when using the Private Window?
Will be more descriptive in the future.
Wish this change was not made. The old way was much easier where it was easy to load internal pages from your bookmarks when in private mode.
Opera is my fav browser for many years. Opera 94 is up to date and plays videos great on Ubuntu 20.04 and loads and opens fast.
Upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 which runs great. Installed Opera 94.0.4606.76 up to date and it takes over 2-3 minutes to load and open! Then videos do play but not well or smoothly as they did with Ubuntu 20.04. On 22.04 videos shutter and stunt. Not smooth as they should.
Installed Opera with the deb file as was recommended. Did not use snap because snap caused the same problems as above. Namely took forever to load and open Opera and Vids did not play or look natural.
What has to be done on Ubuntu 22.04 to make Opera 94 run as fine as it did with Ubuntu 20.04?
Opera updated to, Opera One(version: 124.0.5705.70) Opera is up to date.
All is running fine.

@pindos
Thanks hope that is true.

running Opera One(version: 123.0.5669.47) again and Opera runs fine.
Running Opera One(version: 123.0.5669.47) again and Opera runs fine today. But Opera wants to update when you close then reopen Opera. How can you stop this from happening?
Afraid Opera will update to buggy Opera One(version: 124.0.5705.42) again.
Ran 'sudo snap revert opera' and am now running Opera One(version: 123.0.5669.47) again and Opera runs fine.
Thanks, ran 'sudo snap revert opera' and am now running Opera One(version: 123.0.5669.47) again that runs fine.
Opera One(version: 124.0.5705.42) not playing many videos. Having other problems with it also. Doesn't retain passwords, have to sign-in on everything now. Doesn't retain past tabs of last session when reopening Opera. This last Opera update has to be the worst one experienced in years! Been using and liked Opera going back to Opera version 3.50. This newest version is just too quirky. Am tempted to move on to another browser If Opera can't fix things.
The last Opera version worked great and was trouble free.
pindos, get this when trying the libffmeg.so link:
This site can’t be reached
Check if there is a typo in libffmpeg.so.
Try:
Changing DNS over HTTPS settings
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
Check your DNS over HTTPS settings
Go to Opera > Preferences… > System > Use DNS-over-HTTPS instead of the system’s DNS settings and check your DNS-over-HTTPS provider.
Have Opera One(version: 124.0.5705.42) and Opera is up to date.
After Opera update many videos no longer play. What needs to be done to correct this? YouTube videos are now hit and miss. Some play others don't.
Well after a lull Opera is back to crashing as it did before. Sometimes a couple times a day. Guess the extra RAM didn't help. Don't know what causes this crashing. Wish it would be corrected.
May have solved that frequent crashing problem.
My desktop PC is a first generation Dell i7 purchased back in 2009 with 8 GBs of RAM. It still runs great. In fact since putting in all SSDs it runs better now than when it was new!
Anyways I do push it now. Run a few browsers besides Opera and have sometimes 30 tabs open, or more, when running them. My System Monitor shows most of the 8 Gigs of RAM used and some had to go into the Swap file for help. Well Opera acts a bit quirky then, stalls has trouble keeping up and then crashes a lot. Firefox, Brave and Vivaldi run more stable by comparison while doing this and never crashed.
So since RAM is cheap, got and installed and now have 16 GBs of RAM. PC recognized it in both Linux and Windows with no problem. Noted a marked improvement in PC performance overall. And so far Opera has not crashed once and runs better than before. Maybe that was the issue all along when pushing PC like I have.
