@leocg I go there and right at top is a blue circle indicating, 'Sites can ask for your location'.
Lower down in, Allowed to see your location: I see: 'https://www.google.com:443
embedded on any host' is allowed.
Google Maps shows me signed in but I cannot go into 2D or 3D functions like when using Chrome, Firefox or like Opera did in the past.
@cybrsaylr When using Chrome or Firefox, you simply open Google Maps, it asks you to sign in, you do that and give permissions and it's done. Everything and all functions work fine.
Opera used to be that way but for some reason not anymore.
@leocg I go into settings page and see Site Settings.
Open that and a big confusing page opens with lots of other who knows what! Go down that and hit another 'additional Site Settings' open that to many more confusing things that who knows what they are for!
As I said all this is quite confusing!
@cybrsaylr This was no problem when using Google Maps with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. All functions worked fine.
This problem began when using Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS.
@leocg Did that and get a page: Privacy and security/Location, with much below that I can't make sense of.
Very confusing.
@leocg Went into settings, then full settings, then advanced setting and could not find 'content' or 'location' anywhere.
Using latest Opera: Version:99.0.4788.13 but can't use all functions of Google Maps, such as 2D and 3D as you can using Chrome and Firefox.
On Chrome and Firefox you sign into Google Maps and all functions work.
But on Opera I can't use the 2D and 3D functions.
You get this message from Opera: "Google Maps does not have permission to use your location."
How do you correct this for Opera and give this permission to Google Maps?
Running Version: 95.0.4635.37 Opera is up to date
Still having problems. Opera 95 still takes over 2-3 minutes to load and open! Then videos do play but not well or smoothly as they did with Ubuntu 20.04. On 22.04 videos shutter and stunt. Not smooth as they should.
Have Ubuntu 20.04 on another SSD in my system which loads fast and plays all videos great, as they should.
Can anyone help and give me the fix for running Opera as good on Ubuntu 22.04?
Opera is my fav browser for many years. Opera 94 is up to date and plays videos great on Ubuntu 20.04 and loads and opens fast.
Upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 which runs great. Installed Opera 94.0.4606.76 up to date and it takes over 2-3 minutes to load and open! Then videos do play but not well or smoothly as they did with Ubuntu 20.04. On 22.04 videos shutter and stunt. Not smooth as they should.
Installed Opera with the deb file as was recommended. Did not use snap because snap caused the same problems as above. Namely took forever to load and open Opera and Vids did not play or look natural.
What has to be done on Ubuntu 22.04 to make Opera 94 run as fine as it did with Ubuntu 20.04?

I solved the problem by uninstalling my old install of opera and installing it again via snap (https://snapcraft.io/opera).
I hope it helps you!snap install opera
Installed Ubuntu 20.04 and had the same problems with videos not playing well with the latest version of Opera. Did what you recommended, uninstalled Opera installed Opera again with snap and this solved all my video issues.
Thanks.
A little update on what is happening now since installing Opera with Snap.
Now have Opera Version: 84.0.4316.21 Opera is up to date.
All videos play fine but Opera takes 40-50 seconds to launch every time at first when booting up my desktop. After this if I close down Opera and re-launch Opera starts up in 5-10 seconds. This long 40-50 second launch of Opera only occurs first time after a fresh PC boot up.
I still have up to date Opera on another SSD running Ubuntu 18.04 and Opera launches in 5-10 seconds on that system.
Strange that up to date Opera takes 40-45 seconds to launch with Ubuntu 20.04 on a new SSD just installed!
Is there some way to speed up this Opera launch?
Chromium and Firefox open in about 5 seconds for me.
Opera takes 40-45 seconds to open after launching it first after booting up PC!
Then if I close Opera and relaunch, Opera will open again in about 5 seconds.
My PC system has all SSDs and 8 GB of RAM.
Just installed Ubuntu 20.04LTS. Added a few programs and such and Opera Version:83.0.4254.27
Opera is up to date.
Boot up 20.04 and when first opening Opera it is very slow to open, taking 40-45 seconds! Once it opens Opera runs fine. When I close it and relaunch, Opera opens in a couple seconds with no problems.
Question is why does it take so long to launch on first launch when powering up?

The last couple weeks been having this happen quite often also!
Get this message with it:
All attempts to reload page fail!
You have to shutdown Opera, restart Opera again until this whole 'Page Crashed' sequence begins again, lately a few minutes later!
This is a real pain, especially when you have several tabs open that all have to be created again and again and again!
What gives???
Well today Google Voice refuses to open, or opens then crashes with Opera 67.
However GV runs fine using Firefox.

Google Voice is available in North America and Canada for free and works great for calls and text. You need to have a g-mail account for it to work off of. Not sure what other countries it works in . I'm in New York USA.
Today GV opened up and seems to be working with Opera 67.
