I may have found a solution to my own problem.
I just updated Opera to v. 49.
If I now go to Youtube, right click on a video, and chose to open it in another tab, the video immediately opens and plays.

Google is probably seeing several requests coming from the same server(s) and thinking that it may be some bot and, therefore, is asking people to prova that they are human beings.

It's something that may happen with those using a proxy/VPN.

i can't speak for others but i have opera's vpn set for canada and i no longer have the issue.
Opera 49 crashed. Not working.

Same thing here, on 10.9.5 too.
I also tried on a new Mac account. Same result.
New windows are lost (in fullscreen mode)

@sgunhouse Thanks for the suggestion. I always use a VPN, but not the one in Opera - I use Freedome which, although a subscription service, seems very stable and works across the iMacs and iPads.

TuneIn worked through Chrome and safari so it wasn't my VPN per se which was the problem. Nor, it seems, was it a problem with Opera and Freedome as when following your suggestion, I launched Opera specifically to check the Preferences and my "Home" page opened - to TuneIn Radio! Something (and certainly not knowingly anything that I have done) has changed!

Opera's version number is the same as I posted in the top post.
VPN stopped working after the 48 update!!!

Damn, i never thought that a sync would kill files without a warning or anything. I tought i would be able to find them in the trash or something....

Tough luck.... I'm swapping to pop3, less risk there

@lester Yep, it seems that you can disable the currency converter but it won't prevent the related database to be updated.
How to delete all bookmarks and start again.

I agree, the spacing between bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar is too big. Why are such big gaps needed? If someone figures out how to reduce them, I would like to know.
Can't open opera after automatic update, because of unsupported system.

@kmielczarczyk Thank you soooo much. I searched for archive myself but could't find it.

After instalation of 37 I deleted "opera_updateinstaller" and "opera_autoupdate" from Contents/MacOS/ just to be sure this malicious autopudate won't happen again. Not sure if it was necessary but opera appers to be working fine so far.

Same here. For me bookmarks are not getting synced correctly. Some are, some are not. Same for tabs. Some of my computers are simply not visible on others but it works the other way round ... no idea why. Rather hit or miss for me atm
