Sounds like a corrupt preference file, which can happen if Opera does not shut down properly or crashes for some reason, or there are quite a number of other reasons this can happen.
You better back them up nonetheless. Not in .adr though...
It seems they say you might need to have your old Opera be your system default browser, then heed the process/options while installing (they say it might acquire stuff from the existing Opera on the initial install, providing the old version is a default browser).
Indeed, blackbird. If anything, I posted this so people were aware of the potential false positive. The new signatures came out earlier today & we received notifications from a couple of machines that had the latest installer sitting in their downloads folder.
I've submitted the file to Eset for further analysis, along with a link to the VirusTotal report.
The Linux version has always been 64 bit only.
Now MacOS is 64 bit only.
If Opera drop 32 bit support for Windows (as Adobe have now done with all their "professional" software) there will be an outcry!
🙂
I've actually copied the "Bookmarks" and "Bookmarks.bak" files from Chrome's User Data's path "C:\Users\Stoyan\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default" to the Opera Profile's path "C:\Users\Stoyan\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable" and replaced them. It's working pretty well and I think you can do it with most of the browsers.
Oh, there should be a Bookmark Importer in speed dial and on the menu, if Opera 24 found the Presto version. And no, 24 does not replace Presto - it installs in a subdirectory and does not overwrite any of the files.
