  I've resolved my issue. After starting this thread I realised that I had my dad's laptop here and he also runs Opera 12.16. I tried playing the embedded video on his computer and it worked, as did the other embedded videos that I've been having a problem with. So, I backed up my bookmarks, speed dial settings etc. and did a completely fresh install of Opera. Even though I am back to where I was before, with the same settings and same extensions etc., the embedded videos now play on my PC too. I have no idea what caused the issue and nothing I tried, outside of a full uninstall/reinstall would fix it.

  use extension called lastpass. its great. in the past when my computer tanked and i had to reinstall, it was a pain to manually reenter all my passwords etc for all the sites. lastpass is web based and you never lose them. and it's likely more secure than storing them on your hard drive.

  I do get a tooltip for URL, but not for user name. A lot of my user names start with exactly the same text, and they all lose the important part at the end. I think it would be valid to have the fields editable too, at least then the user could scroll to the end. It may be the zoom/font sizes I use that has caused the issue?

  Since I do not get the tooltip for the user names, I will go via the link you posted and report it.

  I can't find any duplicate topics at all - maybe a mod has deleted them already.

  That is so weird! I go to "About" to make it check for updates every day. It says i use the latest version...
  However i checked on opera's site now, and you're right about that. 19 is the latest...

  could you also post a link to where i should make the suggestion? i kinda bet that it won't be implemented on 19 either.. I'm downloading 19 atm btw

  If we are talking about Opera we have to differentiate between Opera Presto (current version 12.16) and Opera Blink which is a totally different product! Therefore speaking strictly, an upgrade from Opera Presto to Opera Blink (which is a deceiving marketing bubble) is not possible.
  People can however switch to Opera Blink in case they choose so.

  I found a few changes in my css that fixed the problems. The text area was floating left but was not clearing the nav div. I added a "clear: both" to the addresses div and added some bottom margin to the nav div. That seems to have eliminated the problems. I now need to check with the various browsers to make sure everything is OK across the board.

  Classic is the 98/ME/NT version, it uses the older installer and will not work on Vista/7/8 - and there is no Classic for Opera 12.x. Otherwise the choices are English, International and MSI ... MSI is used in corporate settings when installing to multiple computers. Barring that the English version won't have the non-English dictionaries and localizations, there are no differences once installed between any of the installers.

  Ordinarily, installing the new Opera versions (>15) doesn't do anything to the old Opera versions (12.16 or lower)... the new versions should install separately into their own subfolders, and one can actually run them side by side. Perhaps the shortcuts to Old Opera have been dumped, but you still should be able to open the Old Opera version directly by clicking on the opera.exe file in Old Opera's installation folder to start it... if that works as it should, then simply create a new shortcut to that file to use it thereafter.

  Assuming the Old Opera version is still intact, you could export your original bookmarks from it via Menu > File > Import and Export > Export as HTML... > choose a file name and place to save it > Save. Most browsers can import from an html bookmarks file, including the Firefox 26 version I'm using at the moment.

  Use Opera 12.16 or Older versions for now.

  Opera 11.64 has fewer issues with skins than Opera 12.xx, which is one of the reasons I am still using it. See the skins link in my sig for more.

  Opera 18 is not ready for use yet — at least not for long-term users who are accustomed to a high degree of customisation in Opera. See the Customising forum for more details.

  Lol... User @BruceBarr is pointing one important detail that is the customization of Opera that was present at the past version, and for no reason isn't at the actual version of the software and people are calling him a whiner and saying that there's is other things more important? Who are you to define that customization isn't important and call him a whiner? It was a bad move remove lot of options that the browser had and using that curtain of smoke of diminish his post won't change the fact that Opera took a path to sink after it drop Presto...
