Nice. Can you consider my question regarding the release cycle? Detailed inquiry is here: https://forums.opera.com/topic/70380/update-stalls-but-i-have-another-question

RE: [Suggestion] Allow to skip updatesGeneral
@operasurfer1094952 corrections (my sorry): I have a bad line in US right now, the update is "naturally" slow, not stalled.

[Suggestion] Allow to skip updatesGeneral
Hello Opera Team,
current update sporadically stalls at ~ xx %.
But I have another point. Can you make it so that users have a choice, if they want this update or not? More precisely, can you make available major and minor updates, which allows users to either accept or skip it? This could also be spilt into security or functional. The (meanwhile) four-dimension version number is not helpful: *.36 means what and why. .5045. means what and why; and how does 5045 correlate to .0.? No need to go further with this, only as example. Think user: Random and per week updates are tedious -- especially since they cannot be delayed, skipped, or shifted; that is: "delay by 1 week" or else. (Then: If it is sec-critical, it should be forced/pushed)
Just updates is boring. And it is time and bandwidth consuming. There is also no link to Release notes, and with high-count update, most likely, users will skip to read every time.
You may have answers to this inquiry; or it may be stimulating some discussion; or there may have been some overall decisions in the past that I am not aware of. Similarly, Chrome is updating like "running sushi" -- good if you are hungry, not good if you have eaten.
Nevertheless I want to raise this point -- and I guess the "stall" will be resolving itself. I will restart Opera now and see what happens.
Kind Regards

RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
Sync keeps dropping sporadically, why is this so? Checking this situation (sync on/off) every other day is really not ideal.
Selected "Sync everything" (= active), but in other view is off...
-
RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
Latest sporadic issue out of the blue software sky:
- Sync not connected, ... happens ...
- Trying to login with User/PW from PW-Manager
- PW wrong! (what the... sure it is wrong in PW-Manager, no it is not)
- Request new PW...
- Login works (again) - but that is not the sync PW that was reset(?)
Support kindly explain what is going on. Are PW's triggered sporadically or periodically to be reset or based on some security issue?
Sincerely

RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
@leocg Ok, one more question:
"Synchronization has encountered a problem"
Which problem? What to do, sign out and in again? Wait a minute, a day? Restart Opera?

RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
@tiltedcan said in Synchronization has encountered a problem:
> It's a little odd
If you don't mind, I comment on this. IMO it is hugely odd. I happened to me just now again, too There are multiple issues with this,
i) Un-sync happens sporadic, for whatever reasons, and
ii) Users do not get informed; meanwhile, new bookmarks are added,Can anyone just confirm, the passwords are now the same? I messed with two passwords. At the end, it was the same for forums.opera.com and auth.opera.com; are they single sign-on now?

RE: Bookmarks sort by dateSuggestions and feature requests
Fyi. This is how it looks in Chrome. (I just had to use it there, too. The feature is IMO very useful)

Bookmarks sort by dateSuggestions and feature requests
Hello,
sorting bookmarks by date would be very useful with the following detailed options:
- Date created (added)
- Date last accessed
- Restore to previous (unsorted) state
Thanks!
PS. This question asked before, but I repost it through my account.

Bookmarks organization cut, paste, copy URL, etc.Suggestions and feature requests
Hi,
could the Bookmarks management capabilities be improved? As of now,
- No cut and paste, only moving (drag and dropping) items through ~hundreds of items across folders
- No copy of URL (by right-click; it must be manually extracted or launched)
- Sorting per folder: A-Z or Z-A or by Date entered or modified
- Encryption -> See https://forums.opera.com/topic/66521/hide-secure-or-lock-bookmarks-from-showing?_=1699261803726
Thanks for considerations.

Download icon gone missingOpera for computers
Hi,
issue isn't new, but alive. Where is the download icon, why does it disappear, why does it not re-appear if a new download is initiated, and how to fix all this.
Regards
PS.
As mentioned, the question was asked and closed with "I had to reinstall Opera and didn't know." -- This (reinstall) is no solution.https://forums.opera.com/topic/42515/solved-downloads-progress-bar

RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
Information from the field:
Notice that the sync might be "Offline" right after starting Opera. Before you reset the password or change sync settings, wait for it, be patient. Of course this behavior is less-intuitive, but I noticed it can take up to some minutes for the account indicating "Data is synchronized" after cold Opera startup (machine off for some days).
If Opera team will think sync through, also this delay could be considered.

Hide, secure or lock bookmarks from showingSuggestions and feature requests
Hi,
can this be considered a feature: I want to hide (not display) certain bookmark folders.
(Reasoning: I have several customers; in meetings, when entering URLs, the customer does not need to see the names of other customers or sensitive information)
Another option could be password-locked folder, so that it will only show URLs in search/URL address bar, if password entered or decrypted.
I have searched for solutions, and found (crappy) third party plugins. None of those gave me the impression that the solution was stable, secure, and supported in case of problems. It was completely unclear where those bookmarks are begin stored etc. Those are not solutions, but new issues.
Would it be a feature request to handle bookmarks with advanced security. They are data items. Some contain in the URL sensitive information. Are they even securely stored at Opera services (GDPR)?
Kind regards

Stop auto-launch of apps, etc.Opera for Windows
Hi,
is there a similar setting in Opera as is in MS Edge, so that auto-launching of apps/software can be disabled?
According to MS support, the following string (below) will point to a setting which "Automatically block or allow apps based on a list from Microsoft."
edge://settings/content/applicationLinks
(The above solution will not help, because I do not use Edge!)
The issue has to do with MS Teams, or most likely some other software that is being auto-launched within the browser.
In case of Teams, once an invitation for a meeting can be joined, another tab/window opens, providing two options how Teams can be used (see screenshot). The issue is that at the same time, the Teams app is actually loading without having selected any of the provided options. In other words, how to stop Teams from auto-loading and skipping the shown options?
How to disable or reset Teams from auto-launching within Opera?("Remove Teams" is not a valid answer.)

RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
It seems that the sync is "connecting" only seconds to minutes later. I noticed the user was "logged in", but sync was showing "not sync". Some minutes later, everything is "sync" (blue shadow behind icons).
But what also is not clear is, what does "data is encrypted" mean? Does it include bookmarks?

RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
@tonyfaso1234 remember that „one death you must die“.
The browser is good, but that sync bitch needs a separate password. Store it accordingly into your pw-manager and mark it „sync pw only“. Regards -
RE: Sync figures?Deutsch
This issues still persists on other machines. Bookmarks is still nil. How?
Maybe "History" means "Bookmarks" and "Open tabs" means "History"?
-
Sync figures?Deutsch
Hi,
after update to 100.x ("One") I have the following findings.- Bookmarks are shown as 0
- Open tabs are 313
The bookmarks exist (should be >>1000 I guess). But the tabs, I have no clue what that number means or is supposed to mean.
-
RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
Hi, right now it's working again. Note that sync is using a dedicated password, not the Opera account pw.

RE: Synchronization has encountered a problemOpera for Windows
@leonardoemilian good, but I don't move. "The grass isn't green...". This can be fixed. Patience.
