Yes, it’s possible to use a YubiKey 5C NFC with Opera, but support can vary depending on how the website and Opera handle WebAuthn (passkey/FIDO2) authentication. Opera is Chromium-based, so in most cases it should work similarly to Edge or Chrome — as long as your YubiKey is set up correctly and the site supports standard WebAuthn protocols.

However, some users have reported limited compatibility in older Opera builds. I’d recommend updating to the latest Opera version (Developer or Stable) to ensure full WebAuthn and passkey support. Also, make sure that Windows Hello and security key support are enabled in your Windows settings.

If it still doesn’t work, try switching temporarily to Chrome or Edge to confirm your key’s configuration, then return to Opera once it’s fully updated. The Opera team is actively improving passkey and hardware authentication support, so updates should continue to make this smoother.

I formatted my pc, and had sync active with almost every password randomized, even my account, so, i reseted it, then when i was about to resync my passwords it shows me ''password phrase'' and that phrase was randomized and i dont remember nothing about it, basically i lost all my passwords if there isnt a way to change it

Unfortunately, if you’ve forgotten your Opera Sync passphrase, there’s no way to recover the saved passwords the passphrase encrypts your data for security. You can reset sync to start fresh, but old data can’t be decrypted without that phrase. For future safety, note down your new passphrase when setting it up again.

Try clearing your cache and disabling unnecessary extensions they often slow Opera GX down. Also, check if hardware acceleration is enabled in settings; turning it off sometimes improves performance. Make sure you’re on the latest version too.

I really think that Opera has become such a good search engine but I think that one of the only features its missing that holds it back from its competitors is the fact that unlike Google Chrome which has Chrome Dino and fun Google doodle games as well as small tidbits of information on the opening page, Opera doesn't quite have these features yet. I just hope someone could take this into consideration and PLEASE add this to Opera. If you do end up implementing this, please give me a shout out.

Adding fun mini-games, daily facts, or doodles to Opera’s start page would make it more engaging like Chrome Dino but with Opera’s unique style. A small touch like this (even a safe capcut Mod APK corner!) could make browsing both fun and productive.

I’d like to suggest an improvement to make Opera even more productive and user-friendly.
Right now, it’s a bit inconvenient that there’s no quick way to manage:

Opera Theme Music.
Keyboard Sounds.
Browser Sounds.

Having to open the Theme Editor every time can interrupt the browsing flow.
It would be great to have a toggle or switch for these features directly in the Sidebar or Easy Setup panel, similar to the background music switch in Opera GX.
Additionally, adding a volume slider for these sounds would really help, since they can sometimes be too loud or too quiet.
I believe these small additions would make a big difference in enhancing the overall user experience.
I hope you'll consider these suggestions, It'd be amazing.

That’s an excellent suggestion, SoulyX!
Having quick-access toggles and a volume slider for theme, keyboard, and browser sounds would make Opera much more intuitive and customizable especially for users who like the GX-style experience without digging through the Theme Editor every time.
A small change that could make a huge difference in daily usability. Hope the Opera team considers this!

I'm having a problem setting up a new Opera install. No matter how often I try, the weather widget on the speed dial page never resolves. It's continually strobing, never settling on the default location, which in turn prevents me from customizing it to a location. Anyone else experienced this problem and have a solution?

Yes, this seems to be a known glitch in some recent Opera builds. Try turning off the weather widget, restart the browser, then enable it again that usually resets the location service. If that doesn’t help, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Site Settings → Location, and make sure Opera has permission to access your location.

Some users have also fixed it by clearing browser cache and cookies, then relaunching Opera. Hopefully Opera patches this soon it’s a small but annoying bug!

I can’t get 2FA SMS/Email Codes to autofill in Opera. This was working on 26.0 but all of a sudden it’s gone. I’ve asked Apple to look into it, although I’m not holding my breath since Apple can’t speak to Opera as a third party browser. From what I was told by an Apple senior advisor, browsers in Tahoe may or may not work with 2FA Autofill, but I can’t understand why Opera all of a sudden just stopped supporting the autofill. The autofill does work in Safari, Vivaldi, and Firefox, but not Edge or Chrome.

This issue is related to a recent macOS Tahoe (26.1) change that affects third-party browsers’ access to Apple’s system-level 2FA autofill framework. Opera relies on macOS APIs for SMS and email code autofill, and Apple has limited this functionality for non-Safari browsers in the latest release. That’s why it still works in Safari but not in Opera, Chrome, or Edge.

Until Apple re-enables this API for third-party browsers, there’s no direct fix within Opera. You can temporarily copy and paste the 2FA codes manually or use a password manager (like 1Password or Bitwarden) that supports built-in 2FA code detection. Keep Opera updated the team is aware of the issue and will restore compatibility as soon as Apple allows access again.

When the pop-up box asking to save a password pops up, it sometimes doesn't save my username so I have to go into password manager and manually enter my username. Any solutions for this?

This can happen if the website doesn’t properly label the username field, so Opera can’t detect it. To fix it, make sure Opera is updated to the latest version, then clear saved login data for that specific site under Settings → Privacy & Security → Passwords and log in again to trigger a fresh save prompt. If the issue continues, try disabling extensions that manage passwords, as they can interfere with Opera’s built-in password manager.

I’ve noticed the same issue recently the text in ChatGPT’s response area stays frozen until the full message loads, instead of showing the normal “typing” animation during generation. This used to work smoothly in earlier versions of Opera, so it definitely feels like a regression. It’s not specific to OpenAI’s site either, since other browsers still show the live-updating response animation.

The “Explore more” popup in Opera can indeed appear automatically when text is highlighted, even if the user hasn’t manually enabled or interacted with the AI/Aria feature before. It’s designed as a contextual suggestion tool to introduce users to the browser’s integrated assistant, and it doesn’t activate unless the user actually clicks on it.
