@genegold: I've just discovered that it automatic updated, so I can't escape this horrible version. What to do?

Did you others bug report it? Feel free to use my BR number, BS-70469, under the subject:

RE: Introducing Opera 102Blogs
@renatob: Wish I knew. There was a forum topic about it, but the solution was complicated. There is a real need for an auto update off/on setting.

Is there a way to turn off the sound Opera makes on start up?

RE: Syntax command line for starting OperaOpera for Windows
@burnout426 Thanks. So as I read your post, given the changes over time, the only thing needed now to account for my previously added syntax is renaming the autoupdate file. I do have zoom set for 80% (wish there were 5% options between 80 and 100).

@burnout426 Thanks. I see that there is a delete on close setting.

RE: Opera 64 "Save as" opening instead of Internet Download MgrOpera for Windows
Thanks. Those don't seem to be it. Each file is different, but examples are not something I'd want to post on a public site. I've got IDM looking into it too. I just wondered if there's a Save As setting, like their used to be as I recall (accessible in Windows settings)

@renatob: Go a system restore. The problem is auto update is apt to occur sometime after. This is a real cluster f***

Probably not. The changelog shows last Chromium update on Sept 26, while this started with the Win 10 and O64 updates on Oct 8.

RE: Opera 102.0.4880.40 Stable updateBlogs
@genegold: Just did it again. Several tabs open, click on + to open a new tab and instantly the splash screen is playing and a new sessions starts (w/o all the open tabs). It's happened every day since I installed this version.

RE: Opera 64 "Save as" opening instead of Internet Download MgrOpera for Windows
The Download with IDM extention is the Integration Module, I believe. Or at least with my mouse over the extension, it says Integrated is Enabled.
Follow up: I see now that there is a separate Integration Module, which I had before, but it's the one I mention above that's getting the IDM box to come up (along with the Opera Save As one).

@genegold: During the 3-4 hour session Opera crashed/instantly restarted 6 times, all the result of either trying to open or close a tab.

RE: Opera 102.0.4880.40 Stable updateBlogs
@genegold And again 55 minutes later. It seems to happen when there's a lot of tabs open, but so far I've not been able to replicate it intentionally. Certainly having to use History a lot.

RE: Opera 102.0.4880.40 Stable updateBlogs
@genegold: This goes on and on: in SUMo pro, I just now with a right click opened the MS Teams website. The flash screen (and sound) ran, but there was no evidence of Opera closing, as the same tabs remained open. I have no idea what's causing this, but it is specific to this build of Opera 102.

@genegold:On Opera forums, others report it's happening to them too:
