RE: Address bar auto-complete is super annoyingOpera for Windows
A website I often use how just switched from http to https, leaving me with the same question. How do I remove the obsolete one which is being suggested all the time?
PS: Is anyone in the Opera company reading this forum at all?

What a bizarre approach!
But thanks for the information, now it works for me. -
RE: Unicode domain namesOpera for Windows
I regret having posted the 2nd comment about this forum, because my first post about Opera's addressbar is what was really interesting. I basically derailed my own thread in a few seconds!
Anyway, try copy pasting www.replaylegetøj.dk into Opera, and watch how it explodes into www.replaylegetøj.dk
That's what I think someone should do something about.

RE: Unicode domain namesOpera for Windows
Afterthought:
I guess unicode domains are not even supported very well by this forum software itself, as it seems to fail hilighting ANY of those three links.Maybe unicode domain names is still considered "exotic"?

Unicode domain namesOpera for Windows
When going to a link like http://うたう。みんな or http://www.replaylegetøj.dk/ Opera shows the domain name as its underlying encoding, e.g. www.replaylegetøj.dk. IE 11 or Firefox shows them as japanese and danish respectively. I believe it is desired by most users to see them the same was as these two browsers do, and not the way Opera currently does it?
Is this something that will be addressed in future versions of Opera?

RE: Menu closes when reaching separator line in sub menusOpera for Windows
It's still there in Opera 32.0.1948.69 (Windows 7, 64-bit).
Could anyone with access to the bug tracker tell me the status of this issue, please? -
RE: Menu closes when reaching separator line in sub menusOpera for Windows
It seems I didn't write down the bug number. I was probably expecting to be able to find the bug myself in the bug tracking system afterwards. But it was filed under my chopchip user, so maybe it's possible to locate it that way around?

RE: Custom speed dial icon for my website?Lounge
When Opera creates these thumbnails, it does not use any images from the web page. It only uses the domain name. You can tell by the way the yellow thumbnail looks on the gif I posted.
The other one was something I inserted to demonstrate the desired outcome. Apologies if this was confusing.
I think I'll just conclude that this isn't possible. Thanks for your help.

RE: Custom speed dial icon for my website?Lounge
Okay, basically what I want to achieve is replacing the yellow auto-generated thumbnail with a custom one, like this:

Custom speed dial icon for my website?Lounge
Opera's speed dial icons are fairly cool looking.
But let's say I have a website, and I want to affect what it looks like if people place my website in their Opera speed-dial. Is this something I can choose? Can I hand out a jpeg image somehow?
I searched the forum for this, but couldn't find any tips.

Reconfirmed in Windows 8.1 using Opera New 31.

Addons sending your data to 3rd party websitesOpera add-ons
Some add-ons such as the "SoundCloud Music Downloader" and the "YTGrabber Youtube Downloader" send your data to an external website. On the YTGrabber addon screenshot you can even see which domain on the screenshot.
Nowhere on the addons.opera.com page are you warned that your data (possibly the entire file?) is sent to an external website which I can tell is logging everything.
Is this acceptable practise for an Opera add-on? Maybe it's okay. I was just wondering...

RE: Disabling color profile handlingOpera for Windows
Wait wait wait... it's an interaction between the chrome render engine and Windows, it seems.
I had the correct color profile selected in windows. Bad idea. Now I deleted it from windows, and now it looks just right. Thank god.
Case closed!

RE: Disabling color profile handlingOpera for Windows
Left is Opera 31 stable, right is the correctly displayed image:

Disabling color profile handlingOpera for Windows
Some JPEG images have a color profile embedded such as sRGB or AdobeRGB. Opera 32 and Chrome tries to convert this to my monitor's profile, but they fail miserably at doing this properly, leading to ugly banding which is especially visible on clear sky photos and such. I'd rather not have Opera trying to do anything to the colors than this.
There seems to be a parameter called --enable-monitor-profile which you can specify on the command line, but it seem this is already enabled by default. Is there a way to disable this?

RE: Disable URL completion in search boxSuggestions and feature requests
One year later...
I wonder if the dev team reads this forum?
-
RE: Disable URL completion in search boxSuggestions and feature requests
I think one of the problems here (and in Chrome) is that URL completion happens automatically, instead of when the user asks for it.
For example, I often visit a homepage called ing.dk but when I type this in, it "completes" it, sending me to some sub page, when I actually wanted to go to the front page.
Opera could draw inspiration from most linux/unix command line interfaces where you have to press a key for tab completion to happen. (I know tab might not be the right choice in this case, but there are other keys on the keyboard that may be used for this purpose.)
I think that, when enabled, url completion should be a handy option you have, not something that is always forced.

Oh, you're right. Thank you.
Obviously, I'm blind. This thread can be closed.
